Award-Winning Epic Will Be Published By EA

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--Leading video game developer, BioWare™, an Electronic Arts Inc. company, has announced that the award-winning space epic Mass Effect™ will be released for the PC in May 2008. Published by EA and re-designed for the PC, Mass Effect invites players to take the role of Commander Shepard as they set out on an adventure to save the galaxy from imminent destruction. Wrought with treachery, heroism, difficult decisions and a universe filled with unique and colorful species, Mass Effect delivers a truly compelling storyline.

Optimized for the PC, Mass Effect for the PC incorporates the following features:

* Optimized controls designed specifically for the PC.
* High resolution visuals – Mass Effect for the PC features highly detailed textures, characters and environments.
* Fully customizable controls – PC gamers can re-map the control scheme any way they like.
* Run & Gun Control – Players can assign biotic powers or skills to ‘hot keys’ allowing them to play Mass Effect with a heavier focus on action.
* New decryption mini-game.
* New inventory screen GUI and functionality – The enhanced inventory system makes it easier for players to equip and modify their weapons and armor.

“Mass Effect serves as a powerful example of video games as an art form, delivering new levels of emotional intensity, realistic characters and a gripping storyline – all set in a compelling new universe,” said Ray Muzyka, General Manager, BioWare and Vice President, Electronic Arts. Frank Gibeau, President of EA’s Games Label added, “EA has struck an agreement with Microsoft to handle future publishing for Mass Effect. We are looking forward to releasing Mass Effect on the PC this Spring and brand new titles in the future.”

Originally released for the Xbox 360™ videogame and entertainment system, Mass Effect has received critical acclaim throughout the world with more than 70 awards including Game of the Year, Console Game of the Year and Role-Playing Game of the Year. Mass Effect combines a deep story with intense combat and challenges the player to make difficult decisions that can significantly impact the course of events. An innovative conversation system allows for lifelike interaction with some of the most realistic digital actors, voiced by Hollywood actors such as Seth Green, Marina Sirtis, Lance Henriksen and Keith David. Mass Effect for the PC has not yet been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

I enjoyed it on the 360, and had no issue with the controls other than inventory management... I think some of you guys are a bunch of cry babies :p

Oh sure...........after about a dozen or so game patches and driver updates for your GPU's you will finally be able to enjoy the game in 2011 while everyone else with a 360 will be playing mass effect 2. LOL.

someone seems to have gotten defensive about the possibility of the UT3 engine running like crap/worse than the 360 version on release.

I have all the three next-gen consoles, but I prefer PC as gaming platform so this is awesome news for me!

well

1) its not UT3 engine, but U3 engine.
2) never had performance issues issues with U3 engine with my 8800GTX, with my older 7800GT was a different story.

Wow - that was far sooner than I expected, great news. I have the 360 version, luckily got it for Xmas as I'll probably be getting the PC version. The framerate problems suck.

Sorry but console fanboys got something with they heads. Exclusives are for them something almost holly. I read some stupid coments on other forums. They want every game only on they platform. And Pathetic comprasions Ps3 vs Xbox 360 "where it looks better?" Every Sony fanboy say that on PS3 and every MS lover say that on Xbox 360 DAMN! That make me sick sh*t the fu** up and go play and stop flaming forums about "how amaizing is you console".

@nekrosoft13 I think that guy is "pies ogrodnika"... sorry I don't know how to say that in english.

I think you missed the point here. It doesn't matter than it is going to the PC in the end really. Ot was good on the 360 before, and it will be STILL be good on it when it comes out for the PC. I don't have to upgrade my 360's drivers or hardware to play the game on my HDTV, and that makes me happy. Where on the PC you cannot claim that you will not have to tweak things for awhile before it works like you want it to.

If it going to the PC makes you happy, well good for you. Just don't be surprised if it sucks before the patch it, or you have some of the same issues with slow downs and what not that 360 owners have (which I can't remember ever having an issue with).

Humm the U3 has a bug or problem in the PC version with the load /streaming points of the 360, in some games . Like in R6 Las vegas. But only in those points . In other games run better . But Mass Effect will be look better in the PC , sure ;). More RAM and VRAM ever is better for this style games . Like in the AC...

Yeah right. Gears of War 360 1280x720 @ 30fps, and Gears of War PC 1920x1200 @ 60fps

Just like Bioshock, Lost Planet, CoD4 and every other 360 port I can think of. Give us a break and keep playing

YES!!

I have had my 360 rental of this game for months now. Playing it through a 2nd time every now and then. I was thinking about buying it since I like it a lot, but now I can return it and just buy it on PC and (hopefully ;) ) have no more texture problems cause it'll be on the HD! :D

yeah right, when you get Drakes Uncharted, Final Fantasy (single player), Mario, Resistance........etc and a tone more on the PC then you can talk.

You might get some of the U3 engine games and thats to be expected but you still miss out on some of the best games ever made which will never ever come to pc.

Something else you might need to know about me, I have been in the high end PC gaming scene for years and up until a week ago I owned a 8800GTX with a highly overclocked quad core CPU and 4gbs of ram.

I finally saw the light and sold that money hungry ***** of a system and got all 3 next gen consoles and still had a ton of cash left over for games. Best decision I ever made.
