View Full Version : Idea - Make this the default Forceware forum
Seems at least half of us are running Vista now, at least on this site. This forum should be made the default Forceware Driver Forum. Then XP and Legacy Os should be in a subforum. I'm sure a lot of people will object to this but it will make a lot of people happy to. Even when I was booting with both XP and Vista I could have cared less about the updates to XP drivers, was more interested in how performance and fixes were coming along with the Vista sets. What do you think? :headexplode:

I say we split the Vista forum in two, x86 an x64. :p (j/k)
Frankly, I don't care, I have both Vista and XP installed, though I spend most of my time in Vista now, tweaking and testing... Can't we have an option that chooses what driver forum is default ? :D

No looking back, Vista is here to stay, XP is so yesterday.
MS are probably already working on new OS.

Windows 7 is supposed to be released in 2009.

So evidently, MS doesn't want Vista to stay around long.

Agreed... this should be default now... I dont even look at the other one...
Should keep it separate because it helps people find solutions to there problems quicker depending on there OS.
There will be less errors / confusion when people post by accident on the wrong os driver if the version numbers are the same ><...

The OP isn't suggesting merging the XP and Vista forums. Just make Vista Forceware the main forum and XP/legacy the subforum.

Yeah, move XP to "Legacy OS" forum and make this default. ;)
Naa, vista users are still the minority, only reason everyone here is saying yes is because this is the vista forceware section. :D

I agree especially now that SP1 has gone RTM and Vista is finally running well for many of us.

At first I thought good point so I thought I'd check on a driver.
171.16 in all 4 versions is a good example, here are page views of these at lv2go where each version has a separate thread:
WinXP x86 26971
WnXP x64 914
Vista x86 44068
Vista x64 2136
Now either Vista has untold more problems to report or it may just be more popular :D
Notebooks do have a Vista plus, as it's darn hard to find one being shipped with XP any more.
But then all the old lappies with 6 years more purchasing power and needing driver updates you'd think would win the day.
Banish XP to the back blocks it's day has been, it can keep HD-DVD company (ouch this will rile some folks :) )

went back to XP myself.
Yes! :D
Pension XP off to the IT old folks home where it can live with all the other obselete and/or failed operating systems like Windows 95, 98, ME. :thumbdwn:
