Yet you still didn't address your own misuse of punctuation, etc.
That, is a work in progress.

With Blu ray the winner, they will keep the prices high and no competition to lower the prices.
Hm 500 bucks for a blu ray player damn.

The PS3 is already $400 so it's not like they are going to raise the price on it. ;)
Second, there is competition and it's a big one at that. DVD sales are still far higher than all HD media combined and it is much cheaper to buy a player and movies. If blu-ray is going to sell more copies they will have to lower prices.

Would I be correct in thinking you could burn a BluRay film on a HD-DVD disc and play it on a PC?
If so I see a reason for both formats. While the film companys are favoring BluRay, HD-DVD's are better (or cheaper) for burning disc on PC's. At least ATM.

no competition among blu-ray player manufacturers? perhaps they pool their profits and split the sum equally among themselves. ;)

OP, I'm not sure if you're looking for Blu-ray players. Here's the link:

The list isn't finished but you can see which profile they're using, etc. A lot of other makers have switched to Blu-ray so we all should expect more players on the way and lower prices.

we will see lower price blu-ray players. probably not from sony but other brands such as samsung, lg, etc. i'm sure they want people to buy their players instead of sony so of course how to do that, is to lower the price.
i didn't say it'll happen very very soon. if you google around, there's already few players under $400 like sharp's for $335 at amazon.com.
