Looks ambitious and promising. It all comes down to how seamless the multi-core integration is.[multi die, whatever]. If my games don't notice its two cores [no crossfire, ram sharing between dies is a must], then its awesome. If not, then just ****in die already ATI.

2gpus*480SPs*2ops*1050Mhz = 2 TFlops :drooling:

Prolly this new chip will fix all the architectural flaws from the R600. :)

Fixing things isn't ATI's strong suit. 16 rops still? Really? I wish I could put 16 boots up whoever's ass is responsible for that, and throw another 16 in there to show em how to roll. Public perception [der, 24 better than 16] is everything. Wake up ati, quite being innovative and start being effective. Baby steps...

I know, but less informed people won't. Since the A64 I've noticed a perception that wide and slow is better than fast and narrow, if that makes sense, and relying on ultra high clocks to make up for less units isn't a good move. Nvidia certainly doesn't make that mistake[I consider g80's shader structure a little different I guess, since its more complex a difference than just narrow/fast. Remember dude, not everyone is gonna know too much about the engineering side of the two new arcs, they're gonna follow existing beleifs, and if people thought the r600 lacked rops compared to g80, they're gonna see this the same way. I'll quit worrying about pr for ATI now, since I have high hopes for this arc still. I can't wait to see the innovative side of ATI's engineers get those gpu's sharing resourced and all, but I wish they'd just throw in 8 more rops so no one could bitch about it. If something IS wrong with the performance or this new arc, then the rop count might get the blame again even if its not that at all, and people will say "wow, talk about not learning from your mistakes!"
Also, just wanna say, I'm thilled about getting info this early, I hate that top secret bs that surrounds the gpu industry.

If it's true then my money will be going towards a non X2 HP 4870.

At least some increase in the number of TMU's! if its need 4 times faster than a 3870X2 then we can guarantee a smooth Crysis gameplay , but i really doubt it!

I thought that with gddr5 they would be able to reach higher clocks, this doesn't seem like it's totally accurate.

TheBigOne guy has 2 of the 3870 x2's and he says Crysis runs totally maxed out in all its glory with 16XQ AA and he says it runs smooth.

We Nvidia guys need a prayer.

I thought that with gddr5 they would be able to reach higher clocks, this doesn't seem like it's totally accurate.the clock speeds are right max I belive ddr5 can go is 2300mhz they got at 2200mhz which is fast. Just wonder how card will perform when it been released. What to see what NV anwser to this will be, heard that 9800s are only going to be 5% faster then the 8800s will see when cards come out.

The article says the new X2 should be 4 times faster than a normal HD3870, not the 3870X2.

AMD... King of the Rumor of False Hopes.
Considering ATi beat nVidia to the punch with the 3870X2... the 9800GX2 is facing yet another delay- in case you haven't heard:

http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=238522

ATi isn't the only company that encounters problems. Considering how significantly limited ATi's resources are compared to nVidias- you'd think nVidia would be able ot put the 9800GX2 out a bit sooner.
