Oh it looked cool. It just wasn't a slam. He couldn't reach the rim.

Here is a better dunker. Guys like Nique started it all.

All I know is every time I try to watch a game these days, its some punk kid slam dunking the ball and celebrating for 15 minutes after the fact. I'm sorry if the watered down sport that isn't what it used to be doesn't appeal to me anymore.

rofl punk kid? I'd like to see you say that crap to an NBA player. They'd stuff you in a trash can.

AND THEN POP A CAP IN YOUR ASS! THAT'S HOW WE ROLL!

The NBA: It's BANG! TASTIC!

I think you will be surprised how different it is from just a few years ago.

DOC, you want to chime in and help me here? Teach these young kids a thing or two. :D

Anyone who wants to see how much NBA has changed and how good it is now, watch the Mavs vs. Suns game on Thursday night. It should be a good one.
Correction. This game is WEDNESDAY! If Jason Kidd is on the Mavs' side, this is going to be one hell of a game.

BTW, just another day in the NBA http://www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/lakers/2008-02-17-Bryant_N.htm

While someone can easily say "oh they just did that for popularity". This is almost an everyday thing in the NBA now. Lets see roid heads in the MLB or wife/dog beaters in the NFL do things like this on a consistent(and near DAILY) basis.

I find it funny how a drug dealer like Seritonin can call NBA players "Gangsters" and "punk kids". The irony is incredible.

Your buddy "nique" was one of the judges for the Slam Dunk competition. Even he was absolutely amazed at a lot of the things done.

The creativity of the dunks this year's dunk contest surpasses anything I've ever seen. If Jordan or "nique" were in this dunk contest and they did their old dunks, they would receive straight 30's for being boring. The bar has been raised up so far its insane.

I gotta weigh in, that was an amazing all star game. Dwight Howard may well end up being a huge name in sporting history. The Dunk contest had me jumping out of my seat. The man is unbelievable. He reminded me of the Crysis suit type people. Human 2.0

To get Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Kobe all giving you a standing ovation and to blow them away... You have to be good.

Great game to watch too. It was close, and a lot of talent on display. I'll be watching those dunks again on youtube for a while.

You've gotta be kidding me. He didn't even dunk it. It was an "OK" move, but it doesn't compare to the greatest dunks of all time, especially Michael Jordan's free throw line dunk where he pumped it in the air.

And why is Kobe Bryant a judge? Shouldn't he be in the competition?

Kobe was not a judge.

I'll admit, Jordan's free throw line dunk was one of the top 5 dunks of all time for it being semi "new" at the time. But imo, 2 of the top 5 dunks of all time were done in this years All Star Game. That superman "dunk"(yes it wasn't really a dunk, but still damn impressive and entertaining), will be remembered throughout history.

Kobe was injured, and its the aggression and the look of the Dunk that makes it. Watch it.

Exactly. The fact that Dwight Howard was so high he THREW the ball DOWNWARDS to dunk looked like Zeus throwing a lightening bolt.

I think a lot of times people forget that sports are entertainment. The "superman" dunk was the most entertaining thing of the entire weekend imo. Who cares if he didn't really dunk it? Really? Entertainment factor was absolutely through the roof.

They are always like that at dunk competitions.

Of course they would be boring, they were already done. That does not mean the dunkers today are better. It does mean they have a harder job at impressing the judges because most dunking styles have already been done. Howard's dunk wasn't so much that it was high but that he had great theatrics with it. It was fun to watch and that is what it takes. Major kudos to him for that. All I am saying is dunking is dunking. With out props, there are only so many things you can do in the air.

as I said earlier, he didn't slam that one. He threw it down. The guy is 6'11', of course he is going to throw the ball DOWN. LOL!

Why do you keep calling me a drug dealer? I don't do drugs, let alone sell them.

I also find it hilarious that you "call me out" for calling NBA players gangsters, but you STFU when nvjoe says it.

How about you either have the balls to call out everyone or you just sit in your dark room and jerk off to the sportcenter clips of your favorite lil jon look-a-like from last nights game.

Thanks.

I did watch the dunk.

A) He didn't even take off from the free throw line. He was like 2 feet in. That right there makes it not as good as jordan.

B) IT WASN'T A DUNK

If he wouldn't have put on that superman cape, no one would have even cared. This dunk won't ever be remembered for 1 week.

And another thing.

*IF* he would have attempted to slam it, it would have bricked hard and he would have looked like an idiot. He just doesn't have the athleticism of guys like Jordan and Bryant. It was a good move, but that's it.

He didn't try to take off from the free throw line... The point of his dunk was to jump high up not forward. He succeeded.

And yes, this dunk will be remembered forever.

Man, you are still here? Don't you have some sweet stash you need to sell to buy your mom that trailer she always wanted. You can put it in the very back of the trailer park beside yours, where all the "rich" people stay.

Oh, i will agree with you his big superman jump didn't take much skill. It was entertaining. Thats all I'm saying.

Green's dunks took way more athleticism than any of Dwight Howard's.

I'm having a lot of fun watching the NBA games today than I did a few years ago. Chalk it up to the multiple rule changes and the re-introduction of the zone defense.

Perhaps it's just me, but I've been noticing a lot of team game rather than solo emphasis. It seems a lot of the players are getting it through their heads that championships are won with the 4 other guys running alongside you. It's a real joy to watch now. Sure the dunks are still there and are fun to watch, and watching Kobe go nuts single handedly on certain nights is entertaining....but the real joy right now is watching all 5 guys play like a real team.

And yes Tyger, the fact that the NBA is trying hard to improve its image and working with communities to better the lives of people (whether it be for publicity or not, they're doing it, and more than any other sports out there) is something.

After all that crap, what with the Detroit Brawl, and the ever pervasive gangster image of before, it's great to see the NBA turn things around.
