Absolutely amazing. You have to give it to the NBA. Not only for shining light on the still tragic situation in New Orleans, but for putting on the best sports show on earth. Everything about this All Star Weekend oozes Grade A entertainment and its all done with something lacking in most sports today. CLASS I'll even go on a limb and say that the NBA is the classiest sports organization in sports today. Period. The only ones who will disagree with that statement are still stuck in the old ages of NBA when they were having problems. The "NBA Cares" is probably one of the best additions to ever be brought to the NBA. You have to give David Stern a hand for how well rounded the organization has become and how much it has matured over these past few years.
This NBA All Star Weekend was absolutely fantastic(and still not over). Let me start by saying, all the choices for musical entertainment were grade A top notch. No Crybaby Kanye West. No Britney Spears. None of that garbage you normally see on TV. All the choices were local to New Orleans. I was amazed at the talent that was presented. The Rookie vs. Sophomore game was extremely entertaining. Daniel Gibson broke the all time 3 point record in the game(11 3 pointers). The 3 point shootout was great. Kapono tied the all time record from 1986 with 25 points which is very impressive(possible max of 30). Then on to the Slam Dunk Contest. By far the best slam dunk contest to ever air. Dwight Howard is nothing short of an sports entertainment genius. Every dunk he pulled off had the entire crowd on their feet. The creativity involved was the most I have ever seen.
Its a great time to be an NBA fan right now. Best Sport on TV. As I said earlier, the only ones that will disagree are the ones who haven't watched the NBA in 5+ years. The NBA All Star game is on tomorrow at 8pm EST. I recommend everyone watch. (nana2)

Game is starting.
I have to say. This is the first year in a long time I actually think the EAST has the better team.

What idiot designed the jersey's for this game? Really. Both teams have solid white on either the front side or back side of their jersey. I can't tell who is on what team half the time.

I haven't watched basketball since it was men on the court playing basketball. Last 10 years it's been punk ass gangbangers with 0 talent dunking the damn ball every time.
You can count on one hand, how many 3 pointer's are taken in a game these days.
Give me back the days of jordan, barkley, ewing, olajuwan, miller, etc.
If I wanted to see some guy blow out a candle on a muffin with gold teeth i'd turn on mtv1,2 or 3.

Again... shows the extreme lack of knowledge you have for basketball in today's world.
If you haven't seen the NBA in the past 2 years, you are absolutely clueless. You made so many ignorant remarks I don't even know where to begin.
Please name some of these "gang bangers" you speak of? You won't be able to answer that question. You are just playing parrot for something you heard on TV 6 years ago. figures.

All I know is every time I try to watch a game these days, its some punk kid slam dunking the ball and celebrating for 15 minutes after the fact. I'm sorry if the watered down sport that isn't what it used to be doesn't appeal to me anymore.
I couldn't of heard any "comments" from 6 years ago, because 6 years ago, I STILL wasn't watching. I've haven't enjoyed the nba since 96 or so. Back when the red on your neck was still diaper rash, stooge.
NBA All Star game, MLB All Star game, NFL Pro Bowl.... I find them all so boring. Not as boring as watching cars go round in circles, but still.... boring.

Well it actually turned into a good game at the end... the MVP should have been Ray Allen who single-handedly won the game for the East, but that's what happens when the fans vote. :p

ahh ignorance. I guess I can't expect a drug dealer to think any different. :)
NBA is the best its been in years and constantly improving. I'll admit the late 90's and early 2000's were kind of downhill. Thats my point though. Its amazing how much the game has improved. NBA really is the classiest and best sports entertainment on TV. If you would like to put up your vote of a single sport that is otherwise. Please point it out.
Whens the last time you saw an MLB player not totally absorbed by performance enhancing drugs? Or how about an NFL player helping out hurricane victims? You won't find it and if you do, the NBA is does it on a consistent basis. I know helping out the less fortunate isn't something drug dealers think is "cool". I , however, look highly upon the NBA and how its turned its entire company around towards being classy and helping others.

Ray Allen is a sharp shooter and he did his job. While he made alot of key shots, the game could not have been won without Lebron James' performance. Lebron was well deserving of his MVP. If the game went to the West, I would give the MVP honors to Chris Paul.

Lebron's last dunk was unbelievable.

only saw all start events highlights, not the actual game.
MY GOd, that was unbelievable, and the 3 point shootout was great. The coordination and poise those guys show is unmatched IMO.
Great stuff, looking forward to seeing all-star game highlights.

Oh I've always respected Lebron James's talent. He deserved last year's season MVP award. Just because I think the Cavalier's are full of no talent garbage players(other than Lebron), does not mean I have anything against Lebron. I think we have yet to even see Lebron's true talent. And I'm not even talking of him gaining more experience and getting better. I'm talking he is rarely around good players to show how good he really is. Its a fact that if your team performs poorly, your stats will suffer as well.

You're right.....I'm still hoping that they will get a good center before the deadline....

If the NBA has cleaned up its gangsta reputation I might start watching it again. I stopped watching for the last 12 years or so because of it's partnership with hip-hop gangsta rap crap. I got tired of the lake of skill and the emphasis on trash talk and show boating.
I'll check the NBA out and see if it has really changed. I had no interest in the All-Star game this weekend for a couple of reasons. One because of what I said above and two because Zeak and Magic don't play any more. They make the All-Star game the big show that it is today.

I think you will be surprised how different it is from just a few years ago.
DOC, you want to chime in and help me here? Teach these young kids a thing or two. :D
Anyone who wants to see how much NBA has changed and how good it is now, watch the Mavs vs. Suns game on Thursday night. It should be a good one.

no. They need a proper guard. The entire team is full of big men. They are fine down low. They need someone who can pass worth a damn other than Lebron. Its a shame how much Lebron carries that team on his shoulders.

LMAO! You mean they can't spell and routinely make videos of them selves with their shirts off?

I gotta weigh in, that was an amazing all star game. Dwight Howard may well end up being a huge name in sporting history. The Dunk contest had me jumping out of my seat. The man is unbelievable. He reminded me of the Crysis suit type people. Human 2.0
To get Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Kobe all giving you a standing ovation and to blow them away... You have to be good.
Great game to watch too. It was close, and a lot of talent on display. I'll be watching those dunks again on youtube for a while.
Dwight Howard never slammed that Superman dunk. He threw it down.
