Hate is such a strong word.

TWO WORDS: FLYING MISSION!

I put off playing Crysis for quite a while but I started really putting some time into it a few days ago. I'm just about to the end (carrier is being attacked) and I have to say I'm completely impressed. :)

The flying mission kinda sucked (due to the backwards flying controls that can't be changed), but even on Delta the only level that really gave me any big problems was the first fight with the Korean nano suit guys in the swamp. I lowered the difficulty just for that battle and then put it back up to Delta afterward.

I have to say, I couldn't stand Far Cry (what little I could get myself to play) but this game is just blowing my mind. It can be frustrating some times, but its just so damned fun! I actually thought the zero-g cave levels were awesome. It was a little disorienting but the visuals and the sounds were just amazing (as with the rest of the game) and it was an interesting break from all of the hiding in bushes tactical stuff.

I really thought the game was going to bomb completely after the first half like most people have said, but I've enjoyed it from the beginning all the way to the end (well, almost the end).

The production values on this game are just out of this world. I really don't expect to see another game with this much complex, varied scenery and effects for a very long time. I know visuals alone don't make a great game, but good solid gameplay mixed with ground breaking visuals certainly do.

Sorry for foaming at the mouth, I'm just completely impressed. Maybe all the negative crap I've read lowered my expectations, but this is a hell of a lot more than I expected from this game.

Hopefully the last level(s) are as good as all of the ones up to this point.

EDIT: Also, FINALLY, a game worth upgrading for. This is one of the few single player first person shooters I can see myself replaying in the future on better hardware.

Well, I just finished it.

*spoilers*

The majority of the aircraft carrier part was fine, but the final battle out on the deck totally sucked. :(

It seemed really thrown together and was more irritating than fun because of the flying creatures that kept coming back to shoot the hell out of me.

There also wasn't any direction or hints while fighting the big spider robot and I had no idea that I was supposed to just keep shooting the body. It seemed to do damage for a little while, then it just stopped responding when I shot. I kept trying to shoot the legs and to run around the deck. I ended up firing some grenades at the body in desperation and it fell right over. :retard:

Then the part with the big ship was pretty much the same, except when I was supposed to use the tac cannon the game bugged and wouldn't let me lock on. I sat around trying to figure out what to do (while the people on the radio repeated the same thing over and over) and eventually got killed. When I respawned, the gun worked fine and it was over in a couple minutes.

The ending scene with the ship sinking was also unimpressive compared to the rest of the game. It was a cool scene but the visuals just seemed sort of bland for some reason.

I was very disappointed with the last level, but if (when) they make an expansion I'll pick it up. Overall, I give the game an 8/10. It'd be a 9/10 if the end portion wasn't lacking in so many areas. Crytek definitely knows how to make a great game, but it seems like they should have tested the last part of the game a hell of a lot more than they did to make sure it was free of bugs and was actually enjoyable.

I finished the game some time ago but I would agree with you Capt most of the first levels are very good and gets you really immersed. The zero G level was OK after I got the hang of it. The flying level really was poor imo. They could have done a better job of that.
Like you said with the spider robot it took me a while to work out you need to shoot it with the rockets I found on deck. Then with the big ship boss it didn't feel that a lot of thought was put into it. I think they must have thought lets put a big damm thing qt the end that you can kill fast if the TAC does not bug :thumbdwn: .

But I will play the game through again later this year once we get better hardware out.

I didnt care for the liquid area either. They could have dumped that level as far as Im concerned.
Liquid Area? Which level is that?

It didn't occured to me that anyone could think the level was spend in a liquid as NO traces of liquid were shown up to the level (no jumping into liquid, no liquid filling the rooms) after the level (if you're "flushed out" of the mothership into the snow terrain, where was all the liquid?) or during the level (the game physics were clearly that of weightlessness, not liquid). Oh well...

I once mistook liquid for gas ,The outcome wasn't pretty.

This is hilarious, and possibly a useless post (many of you will agree).
But I built my computer around the time this thread was created and unfortunately due to the high amount of bugs, issues, problems (all the same thing imo) I am barely able to now get around to playing this game again. lol.

I RAN through all the levels and i just got out of the spaceship (i hated that level!) and am now into the snow areas. And omg, does the performance just take a crap on itself.

But hey, I guess by this time next year we should be able to play crysis balls to wall without issues.

All in all, love the game but I think the game REALLY shined in the very first levels. What happened to that gameplay?

The Swamp level (when you face the others when nano-suits (and prior to that)), now that was a BAD ASS level.

Edit: if jakup sees this post, is there by any chance you can post some benches (even rough figures) of your performance in the Zero-G / Exiting Spaceship levels?

:headexplode:

Wow, I HATED the part where you fought the other nano suit guys. They kept killing me without me even seeing them. And when I did see them, none of my weapons even seemed to hurt them. I dropped the difficulty a few notches just for that part and then turned it back up after I beat it. I think I was playing on Delta though... :o

Yeah I haven't played the game on anything else but delta (brag moment!), mainly to feel some form of realism considering I have on some futuristic body armor on.

ahem... Crysis 2 (Coming on PC and consoles)

In Crysis 2 we find ourselves after a prophet gone crazy. The aliens implanted him with something, he ofcourse left before it could take hold, giving him extensive knowledge of the aliens, but he didn't leave quickly enough to stop them taking control eventually. In the end we must battle Phophet in a show stopping Nanosuit vs Nanosuit battle while the aliens sneak of with that bitch who likes us a little. Psycho will cuss a little more in British and we willll probably have a brief encounter with some more Koreans, no doubt they have battle suits by now.

The End. Until Crysis 3, which will probably be console only due to the downfall of the PC master race.

Not what I thought. I forgot what I thought after reading what you thought...

Replaying nowadays, good stuff. Didn't notice before, the game is really really easy if you take cover time to time.
