View Full Version : Question about DDR and Dual Channel

I was curious, I just ordered a 2GB kit of Corsair XMS PC3200 CL2 RAM. Currently, I have a 1GB kit of the exact same type of RAM. Will I have problems running all 4 modules together?
probably not, but youll more than likely need to run a 2T cmd rate.

I had the exact same ram. with. with 2x512MB I could run at 1T and overclock it to around 490MHZ. with 4x512MB I had to run it at 2T, and to achieve the same overclock on my CPU (2GHZ -> 2.5GHZ) I had to set a memory divider so that the ram was only running at about 360MHZ instead of the rated 400mhz. however it worked at 400mhz if the FSB/CPU was not overclocked.
so to sum that up, it will work fine if you don't overclock, but only at 2T command rate.

I dont mind running at 2T, and my CPU isnt a great overclocker, usually gets finnicky around 2.65GHz. and i dont see much gain with anything under that.
i think you need to make sure channels A and B have the same amount in them too. (ie 1.5GB in channel A, 1.5GB in channel B)
then again, idk if that's important.
