explain

I can see why these drivers are only for the 9 series. They have problems with other cards. A new set will be out sooner or later that supports all cards.

I can't see why nVidia doesn't push 169.32 for all other cards, since t's the best driver out there. Running Crysis at medium, Bioshock with almost high, except for High Quality Post Processing, Lost PLanet worked like a charm, all in DX10 mode and (In Crysis) 64-bit mode. Resolution: 1440x900 in every game.

Getting 15~43fps in Crysis.
Getting (I guess) 20~48fps in Bioshock.
Getting 23~50fps in Lost Planet. (Except for the Spider-like Arkid. Had to set Fur Quality to None to get more than 10fps fighting that thing).

Config:
E2140@2.66GHz
P5K Premium
2x1GB OCZ Platinum Rev. 2
XFX GeForce 8600GT
1xSeagate 250GB 7200.10
Seveteam 450-PAG

Got my 169.32 from XFX website. Just pick up any model based on any G8x GPU (PV-T8xx-xxx)

that doesn't explain anything

Games that use heavy shaders now stutter for me with these drivers. BioShock stutters, so does COD4 and so does TF2. Previous drivers didn't. Hence why they suck. I'm not gonna bother uninstalling them as new ones will be out soon. Hopefully a beta.

Even Doom 3 and CS:S got bad performance here with 174.16
Maybe coz my card not based on the new G9x series?

Anyway, somebody using Vista SP1 RTM?
Despite the fact Microsoft actually failed to make it uncrackable, Dx10.1 is not included or DXDIAG is bugged. Only report DX10 on mine.

I took the plunge and installed this set. I just tested then out on COD4 and reallt liked them. Game play was very smooth, no stutters or anything like that. Overall, keepers.

Are you using a Geforce 8 series? I'm on a 7800 GTX.

So they are more optimized for G80 than G70

seems that way

seems that way

Amazing.

Strange too.

Why would a new driver be more optimized for newer hardware?

This bothers me!

I want more optimizations for my old hardward, no matter how hard they've milked and tweaked this old stuff, and squeaked every ounce of performance out of it.

Heck, I want magic!

Seriously folks, don't expect any magical driver to make a G70 series suddenly gain new life. Aint gonna happen, though nVida may have a few tricks up its sleeve still, but I wouldn't bet the farm that nVidia is trying real hard in this respect.

G70 is tweaked. You only need to find the most compatible driver FOR YOU, at this point, IMHO.

that will be hard, since you always will need a new driver for game specific fixes.

yeah 8800gtx

well I have a 8800gtx too and this driver felt all wrong (in a non-smooth, impossible to hit anybody fashion)..

yeah well that's all I can say about it really!

the fps was fine, the image displayed fine.. but the display just "felt" wrong :o

(and I already posted earlier in thread about which game I was talking about - quake wars)

ok, don't have quake wars, but what do you mean felt wrong?

That's weird... Says unsupported driver when playing a dvd? Maybe you're using a different version or something? With the 169.61s it works flawlessly. :/

EDIT: Noticed that you're using vista 32bit while I'm running vista 64, so that must be the problem... :)

Not sure if it matters, but separate codecs are needed for 32-bit/64-bit. That shouldn't matter with drivers, though.
