What I want to know is will the 9800GTX be faster in performance then the 9800GX2. In the article it states that the GX2 will be 30% faster then the 8800ULTRA. But I have yet to come across the performance speculations for the 9800GTX. Because I can wait on the 9800GTX to be released a few weeks after the 9800GX2 if it has better performance.

If you haven't found an article, more than likely, we haven't either. There's no way to answer your question currently. We haven't seen any 9800 GTX models "in the wild" so we can't speculate about what it will be able to do (if there ever is one).

Its all rebagged 8800's with smaller nm chips and higher core speeds thats it. I heard Nvidia is having issues finding people to work on their new products cuz they laid off a bunch of engineers for some reason.

Exactly. So I'd say it's highly unlikely that it will be faster than the 9800gx2. It will probably be very close in performance to the actual 8800gtx.

I'll pass since I'm already using two 8800 Ultras in SLI both watercooled! :)

Oh yeah? Well it's still kicking ass and not taking names. What are you running? Dare to compare? As for the 9800 GX2 there won't be anything in the way of image quality or better graphics. At best you just might see a performance increase and that's it.
I've learned to hold off now until a 10-series arrives from NVIDIA in the future. Anyone that's used a 6800 Ultra on up to a 7950 GX2 knows not a damn thing looked any better until the 8800 GTX came along and only then did graphics and image quality really start to
look better. I can account for that since I've already used PNY 6800 Ultra AGP, EVGA 6800 Ultra PCI-Express SLI, BFG OC 7800 SLI, BFG OC 7900 SLI, EVGA 7950 GX2 Quad SLI. I'm still very impressed by the 8800 Ultra series in SLI. Not only is it dual water cooled, each card also has a fan mounted to it blowing
any heat right out of the back of the case. I'll have to research good and hard to even step-up to another set of SLI ready cards because I still want to use the same water blocks that came with my HP blackbird 002. The case is solid not some cheap ass plastic knock off. It would kill you if it dropped on you're fat head.

This digital_trans guy has alot of money to spend i see from his description of past hardware settups.

It Marketing must pay you big.

Im keeping my 8800's too for awhile til they have a real fast card that shames even the ultras.

With the way the GTX prices are being slashed, something must be close.

I think we will be surprised :D

Again from Kingin. I believe that he as actually tested these 9800GTX's
on a LN2 setup.

All of the new rev3.0 and slims that go out in about a week or so will ship with the new bracket. The slim design has been changed to accomadate ATI X2 card better. There is NO WAY I will change the 3.0 design for these 3870X2 cards, cuz the unit is perfect and the card is most definitely not .
On the old slim/3.0 bracket (2900,8800u), the fit is great with those cards but with GTS it's a little off, as that card was released after current bracket was done. New bracket fits All the old cards still + GTS + 38070X2 + 9800GTX which launches in about a month .

New 4.0 unit for NVIDIA'S new flagship card is specially designed and tested specifically for that card... it has to be that way for this unit to be the best it can be with that graphics card. Slim unit will be geared more towards TRI-SLI and ATI X2.

Well I think I have an answer to my question. The articles that I have been reading state that the 9800GX2 will be the High end 9 series card, replacing the 8800ULTRA. And the 8800GTX will be replaced by the 9800GTX.

Well that is gonna suck for those hoping to play Crysis and games like Crysis @ high resolutions. I was hoping to be able to play Crysis @ Very High settings @ 1920x1080 4xAA 16xAF @ around 50-60fps, but it sounds like that will not happen. Such a pity...
