Not going to happen. You might as well drop around $400 and pick up a PS3.

$100? Heh no. Give it few months at most, maybe but more likely when it's closer to holiday. I kinda doubt it'll drop as low as $100 though.

you might see $199 blu-ray player in the holiday season. it's been mentioned somewhere...(trying to find it) but you might want to hold off sony players since they tend to keep price high.
keep checking. don't drop your hopes like few people here. ;)

Think of all the beer I can buy with $400!! Choices: slightly better looking movies, or enough beer that I can't tell the difference.

the best way as mentioned would be a htpc, but if by all of the features you mean dts-hd, don't expect anything out of a htpc other than DD. they just recently found cheaper means of making the blue read lasers, i know that chinese companies are attempting to pick them up, so you may see 1.0 possibly 1.1 profile players for ~100 by the end of the summer. you won't see any brand name 1.1 players drop even close to that low for a while, unfortunately the expensive process beat the cheaper format, and now the consumer is forced to deal with the prices as attempts are made to cheapen the process to make these players (not even mentioning the price of the media).

yea it'll drop $50 probably. and definitely more than a few months.
i love high prices. im so glad bd won the format war.

I think the smartest thing Microsoft could do is release a Blu-Ray player that's 200 dollars. Not just for the X360 but an all-around player. The most people you can sway away from buying a PS3 the better for them. And better for us too!

It still blows my mind how people got a $400 over a $150 player.

maybe customers were told to get blu-ray OR customers knew blu-ray has more studios, more movies to choose when only two major studios backing hd dvd. maybe price doesn't matter and they say "it'll be good investment". i don't know about profile 1.0 if they were aware of. maybe hd dvd didn't have enough advertising. who knows how they end up buying blu-ray players for $400 or so. but hd dvd players sale did beat blu-ray players sale...
i'm still waiting if microsoft is going to announce blu-ray addon for xbox 360. if they plan to sell it for $199, that will force other makers to drop price on current blu-ray players. then everyone will be happy.
