Take a look at this article at http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7394.html
for the specifications of all the upcoming GeForce 9-series cards. The 9800 GTX is not clocked much higher than the 8800 GTS 512MB!

I don't think that 9800GTX is going to be any worth over 8800GTX or Ultra.

again i will have to disagree their lowend/mid range 9600gt is behind the 8800gt in most cases minimally and when you turn on aa its a different story. I cannot imagine a 9800 gtx being minimally faster then their lowest card the 9600 gt. If any of you think nv would do that your being silly. As the 9600 gt in sli trounces on the 8800 gtx. thus all high end people would simply switch to sli. Negating a whole line-up of high end cards. I think there is more to this chipset then we are seeing.

Who knows how the final specs are going to turn out, but I just wanted to share with you what I found. Obviously, Nvidia won't announce the specs of any upcoming products, so we ll have to take this with a grain of salt.

Surely this is in the wrong section, it would be more appropiate in the rumor mill, because it is indeed a rumor.

I would bet that the Op's link is more accurate than that chart. 256 shaders would mean it would have to be 4x faster than a 9600GT. It is rated at a clock speed that is higher than any G92 can currently hit. Also, why would it only have 16 ROPS when the 8x series had 24. A lot of that stuff doesn't seem to add up considering the 9600GT just came out and what specs it has.

Cosidering that the 9600GT has only 64 shaders and is almost as fast as the 112 shader 8800GT, it's possible that there's more to the 9800 that will make it faster then what it seems from those specs.

yes and with crazy ocing it is as fast as a gt lol. =o

I've been thinking about the 9800 GX2...

Assuming that the 9800 GTX is clocked at 675/1688/2200 with 512mb 256bit vram, and is around the performance of an 8800GTX/Ultra, wouldn't the rumored MSI GX2 with clocks of 660/1650/2x00 be pretty much like GTX SLI, therefore making GX2 SLI the equivalent of 4 8800 GTX/Ultras *drivers permitting*?

If so, that's some pretty insane performance...

The 7950GX2 was slower a lot slower then the 7900GTX gpu for gpu, but by the looks of these 9 series cards, that's no longer the case.

Does the GX2 run in SLI mode the whole time?
I run multiple monitors so would prefer it if this wasn't the case so might have to go for the 9800 GTX instead :p

But then if that Techarp image is true I would go for it anyway :D

Erm...the 7950GX2 was slightly faster than a single 7900GTX (as in SLI vs Single GPU ><).

Yea GX2 needs SLI setup, just like a normal sli 2 card setup. Erm..i don't know if they refined the system to make it help for those on multi monitors/etc..but i think you can change sli/multi view on the fly right? no need to reboot.

The transistor count for the 9600 GT i believe is wrong, it should be 560 million and not 754 million.

I really hope the GX2 has good driver support and is nothing like the 7950, but I ain't holding my breath.

Can Nvidia suprise us and actually make the thing run good on the first benchmarks with early drivers? :captnkill:

That's how the 9800 GTX should be: G100|55nm|256 SPs|DX10.1|2GHz shaders|512bit mem bus|128GB/s. :D

well not excactly like two card setup. GX2 can run on non-sli boards

If those are true, then damn! The 9800GTX will destroy. Too bad I'm stuck with my 8800GT :(

Yeah, lets hope the Techarp specs are the correct ones.
those are the specs from months ago we all where drooling over. then recently we got the specs that suggested the 9800GTX is no more than a rebadged 8800U. so i'm with you! hopefully the 9800GTX will be a true sucessor.
