Hello Everyone!!

For graduation this year. I have been told that I will be getting a laptop.
I have been looking at alienware, dell, cyberpowerpc, among other places on new laptops that absolutely define amazing in my book. So it seems to me dell is the only builder offering dual 8800GTX's in SLI set-ups for laptops. Is their any specific type of laptop that reigns supreme? If so please tell!! Thanks! :captnkill:

Dell are pretty good. Even the lower end 1520s a great. Just remember, any "Ultimate' Lappy wont be Ultimate for long. Also "Ultimate' Lappys usually have crap battery life. Alienware to me just seem way overpriced for what you get.

Depends what you want. ;)

If you want portability and good battery life, any laptop with SLI or any high end 8800 series setup is going to suck, you'll need to be plugged in all the time and it's basically a portable desktop. It will be big, thick and heavy. We're talking 7-9 lbs, 1-2 hours of battery, 17" widescreen, 1-2" thick.

If you want a laptop that has 4-6 hours of battery life, a good screen and Vista or XP (or Mac OSX), there's lots of choices, but it's not going to be good for games. We're talking about 1" thick, 5lbs or under and 13-15" widescreen.

If you must game, then get the Dell or Alienwares, otherwise get the lighter Dell's, Sony's, HP's or Apples (which can run Windows also).

Maybe getting a Xplorer X5-C90S Pro Notebook from cyberpowerpc would be nice! It comes with a core 2 extreme X6800 clocked at 2.93 ghz, 8600GT, 2GB mushkin or corsair ram, 200 Gb 7200 rpm hard drive. This and alot more for $2501!! (The expensive part is the X6800 upgrade)

If I was to choose the dell or alienware, I would end up dropping near 5k on it. God soo many choices!! I've seen slizone's notebooks many times. And as for battery life I could much care less. I'm buying an extra battery+ getting the lithium ion battery upgrade. Anyone know of any other retailers?

Yikes, I'd be afraid to take one of those things anywhere between the possibilities of being robbed or breaking it.... which would make it a desktop, which I could build better for less... they're really getting crazy with those things.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather have a nice ultraportable or sub-notebook?

Sub Notebook? (googles :D)
Anyways! With a sub notebook there wouldn't be a GPU in it. Just integrated crap. Im looking for a good competitor, but 3k would probably be mine and the parental units limit!! So I was thinking an Intel X7900 and a single M8800GTX. Overclock that badboy to 3.4ghz and get me a top performer and a LAPTOP that would break 10k in 3Dmark06.

On another note I bring my butterfly knife with me almost always just in case!!

some lappys with performance graphics ALSO features a crappy integrated Intel or somesuch GPU that you can switch to if you´re using it unplugged for non GPU intensive stuff.
Atleast I´ve seen that on one, a alienware lappy I think it was.

Looks like im going to get Intel X6800, X6900, or X9000 chip, Nvidia 8800GTX 8700GT, or 8600GT, 200GB 7200 Rpm hard drive, 15 or 17 inch screen!! All this for anywhere from 2k to 3k!! Im EXCITED for this savage!!
Btw Xp or Vista?!!?!?!?!? :captnkill:

Dude, just watch out with this Reseller Rating. (http://www.resellerratings.com/store/CyberPower) It isn't bad, just a bit of risk. They used to be a lot worse, but it is a bit risky.

No, I'm not saying it is a bad company, but (in my opinion) it has more bad eggs than I'd like. The really bad company you want to watch out for is iBuyPower.
