After taking some screenshots with a special version of our GPU-Z utility, the guys over at Expreview have decided to take their GeForce 9800 GTX sample and give it a try at Futuremark 3DMark06. Using Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 @ 3GHz, 2GB of DDR2 memory, ASUS Maximus Formula X38 and a single GeForce 9800 GTX @ 675/1688/1100MHz the result is 14014 marks.

Wow....I thought I would upgrade to the new 9 Series cards but thatís not at all impressive. I guess we will have to wait and see.
I understand 3dmarks donít mean a whole lot relative to real game play but that score is not impressive at all.

is that legit then?
I would have prefered the rumours about 512bit bus and that stuff to this.

Thats is almost what I get with 2 8800GTSOC 640s in SLI with my c2Q6600@3.0. Look at my sig for details. Found one using a QX6850 at 3.0 and the GTS scores almost the much. Drivers maybe? But if it hold true, what a let down. Could the 16ROPS GPU-Z is reporting be the issue? Kinda wierd to have the 9800GTX with 16ROPS when the 8800GTX had 32.

so i should just get 8800gts(92) SLI?

AFAIK nothings been confirmed yet. I would wait and see, but it's not looking good.

That sounds like the better deal to me. I'm only about 500 points shy of that score on my 8800 GTX... granted that isn't a stock score, but just the fact that I can even get close is inexcusable. :thumbdwn:

I am thinking those are either doctored up numbers on that GPU-Z screen or it is all made up.

why are you guys complaining saying your cards can get close to that when your comparing your card which is overclocked to a stock card? Hell you even have ppl comparing GTS cards in SLI to it. If you overclock that card lets see how close your card is to it then. Apples to Apples ppl.

Problem is Apollo we are getting a bunk generation and rather then spending $500+ more dollars for a card that does maybe 10-20 more "max" FPS, we'd rather keep our money and wait till next gen, which heck nVidia may slack it again, but I'd pay another 500 for 40+ FPS in Crysis, I won't pay another 500+ for 10-20.

I'll believe all this when I actually see it from nVidia. The shader clock speed just doesn't seem correct for one thing, you would think there would be some improvement over the last generation as well as being higher than the mid-range card..... the 9800GTX will have lower shader clock speeds than the 9600GT? Also, I've read more than 1 article that stated the 9800GTX was to be another 768MB card.. so that seems like it may be fishy as well.

Not that the shown specs are impossible for the 9800GTX but man, I hope they're wrong. I can't imagine nVidia willingly leaving that big of an opportunity for the competition to not only catch up but possibly surpass them.

My BFG 8800 GTX OC has almost 2x's the spec's as what that CPU-Z shows and then compare it to the spec's shown here.

that one seems more believable for a new $600 to $700 card

i guess i picked the perfect time to learn the value of a dollar because I'm loving my 8800 gtx. Looks like the next gen is what most of us will be looking for,if this is the top of the line for this gen.

That's just the thing, according to one of the rumors the 9800GTX is only going to be a $400 card and the GX2 will be the expensive one. Those numbers look exactly like I would expect them to look like when comparing it to the 9600GT. Similar clocks, just twice as many stream processors.

If slapping 2 8800GTS G92 chips into one card is all nVidia can muster for a top end between the release of the 8800's and now, AMD/ATI should be one happy bunch.

yeah i think its a fake because it says "gpu 92" and the gtx is a g100(nana2)

I really doubt that chart is accurate. The GX2 and the 9800GTX would have nearly identical performance (when SLI is working).

It just doesn't make any sense.

What's with all the fake/unconfirmed information these days. This kind of stuff belongs in the rumor mill

I get over 13K with one 8800GT and when i was using SLI i got over 16K, So I hope this isn't real, because if it is, then who will buy them? I personally think they aren't right, does anyone remember the info spread about the G80 before it was released, it was supposed to have seperate shaders, then not, then the real specs were called fud.

Lets wait and see shall we?
