It still works, it's just tainted and it doesn't sound like a good thing

It just means that if something goes wrong with the nVidia driver, don't ask the kernel developers or you'll get a rude response. If you do have a problem, load the GPL driver (The "nv" driver that comes with X-Windows) and try to replicate it. If you cannot replicate the problem with the GPL driver, then report to Andy Mecham.
