XnView, much better than Irfanview:
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/endownloadwin32.html
Get the XnView v1.92.1 Complete version (Some Plugins/Addons & NConvert, ShellEx, Media Detector).
http://download2.xnview.com/XnView-win-full.exe

Unchecking "Hide extensions of known file types" FTW.

I really don't understand why that isn't enabled by default. Hell, it shouldn't even be an option, it should just show file extension. Period.

Ah, good ol' ACDSEE! I use to use that back in the day. Now, I just use the WinXP viewer and Photoshop to edit.
Ugly icons aside, Irfanview is a great program.

Getting new icons for the 4-5 image types you normally use doesn't sound so bad. ;)

I think microsoft just released Windows Live Photo Gallery. I'm using it now and its pretty nice
Irfanview was good years ago, but then development stopped nearly completely, and many other programs overtook it.
After that, I used XnView for some time, but then switched to Faststone Image Viewer, because I found it to be even better :D
