who here wants to place bets that the 9 series cards go faster at each tier then the 8 series cards? This is not the FX series fiasco. Just place your bets come on. Stop telling people to buy 8 series cards over 9 series cards until you get hard numbers. I.E. in game benchmarks.
Power is not enough without good price.

yes and for less then 400 bucks i have better frames in every single game then an 8800 ultra. I'd say thats power + price. Again who wants to bet?
JUST ANNOUNCED NVIDIA FILED BANKRUPTCY DUE TO 9800GTX/GX2 BEING A FLOP!
All this wouldn't have been such an issue if nVidia hadn't made such big promises. TBH these cards, although not much of a jump in performance, are very good VFM (exept the GX2).
If they hadn't BS'd about a card with double the performance of an Ultra, the 9 series wouldn't be such a let-down.

Well we keep buying this stuff so can you blame them?
If we stop buying on release day for a 20-30% markup over retail then maybe Nv would get the hint and:
- Offer better performance for the price they're asking.
- Reduce the price of their complete line (low end all the way up to the flag ship)
We've been handing them a free meal ticket for how long?
I've learned my lesson, don't buy on release day - just wait. Now, this seems to go for both games (software) and hardware. Hell I'll even skip a generation this time around - who knows? OK that may be pushing it a bit.... :o
I'm definitely not buying the 9-series that's for damn sure!

Higher clocked GTS - 800/1750. If it's real the question then becomes are these stock or overclocked numbers....

I'm still waiting for solid benchies from [H], anandtech and the usuals. I only run 1680x1050, so that may still be a viable option coming from an 8800 GTS 640.

I'm not even going to bother with the 9 Series. Even with this rather weak processor (by today's standards) and no overclock on either my CPU or video cards- I can play Crysis (DX10) on High for every in-game option and never have it dip below 25fps. At best the 9 series will net me may 5 or even 10fps at the same settings in Crysis... but I'd be running into the same CPU bottleneck I am now, so I very well might not see any improvement.
Nah, my next rig is gonna' have dual 3870x2's and an E6600. Just trying to figure out which credit card company to go with for this build. I'm 21 and don't have an ounce of credit. Figured this is just as good a reason to start accumulating credit as any. :p

And another good man starts digging the 'upgrade' hole! :D
After seeing this i wont be surprised to see a GeForce 9800Ultra to follow :bleh:
think of a bumped-up 9800GTX + 768MB or 1GB VRAM.

It'd still only have a 256 memory bandwidth, though. I was thinking maybe a DDR5 version, if it was possible.
I find it strange how the GTS isn't getting support for TriSLI. The GT is and and the GTX is, so why not the GTS? Because of this, there is little point in this 'revision' of the 8800GTS-512. I see no extra performance and no new features.

The new card in june (d10e or something) will probably be what we want from a 9-series card. 1gb memory
512bit bandwith
gddr4(hopefully5)
High Clocks because of the new memory(gddr4 or gddr5)
display port
150sp's?

I've read somewhere the GT200 will be released late Q3/early Q4. There are some cards coming out this summer but I think it's just another refresh. I could be wrong though.
AFAIK nVidia are skipping GDDR4 and going straight to GDDR5. That might be what the refresh is.

yep, nvidia is planning on launching three cards this year. the 9-series d10e in June, then gt200 Q3/Q4
Gddr5 would be nice, hopefully some insane clocks would follow with it.

Yeah, I've known that... but there doesn't seem to be much more info available than that right now. I'd have expected some leaked specs and performance numbers. So far nothing.
Hopefully it is extremely competitive to what nVidia puts out.

I think everyone on the thread has a 8800GTX which makes for a small upgrade to the 9800 series but with the mainstream cards there is a big jump from 8600 to 9600. And that's what Nvidia sells the most of.
