Hey guys, I really need you're help again. I purchased Norton Symantec Anti-Virus Corp. Edition x64 which has been great on providing me with Anti-Virus protection for my Windows Vista x64 OS.
The only problem with the program is I can't get automatic updates to work on it's own. I have to click on the tool bar icon click open Symantec Anti-Virus.... after which comes up a box with a Live
update tab which I've been clicking on once a day just so I can get the latest Anti-Virus protection files updated on my system. This isn't a retail 32-Bit version of Norton Anti-Virus. It's an OEM version
of Symantec Anti-Virus Corp. Edition x64 version: 10.2.0.298 Screenshot below. All I want is to enable the automatic update feature within the software. If anyone knows how to then please advise....thank you!

hmm, my updates work ok. im using the exact same one. got it from my school.
i think auto-updates are a service. maybe you could try restarting the service or maybe it's disabled by default somehow?
or just re-install it heh.

No, I know that isn't it. Oh well.........:(
oh, i thought you meant updates dont work at all. youre saying you have to hit the button and you want it to do it automatically...
well, idk if there is a way to do that. but i wouldnt complain, i mean you get free updates forever with that program lol.

Question, under services.msc I noticed that it says manual. Should it be set to automatic or manual?

And still the above question remains?
tbh it doesnt matter. if you have updates scheduled, the program will just start the service, get the updates, then stop the service.
im guessing you can leave it as manual.

I still have to manually update the settings by clicking on the tool bar icon on the desktop. I wonder if there's a problem with the actual program not being started. I'll assume that LiveUpdate is dependant on Windows Task Scheduler.
So how would I configure that feature to work with Norton Symantec Anti-Virus x64 so I can get automatic updates without having to do anything?

your problem is that you are messing your computer to much.
in my case just installed it, and automatic updated worked from the start, there is nothing hidden or nothing set.
it just works

i wasnt sure previously because i was in Boston for a grad school visit, so i didnt have my vista x64 machine.
well it works on mine. your computer needs to be on or else it wont update. if you have it set to monday morning at 3AM, then obviously it wont update. furthermore, it wont recognize that it was off and update itself. just make sure you have a time set where your computer is on.
youll probably ignore this as well. gl.

Hmmmm, hang about for a second - you say you purchased an OEM copy of Symantec Antivirus?
This would strike me as highly unusual. OEM software is software stripped and supplied especially for OEMs that target (usually only) the home market. Symantec do release OEM antivirus scanners, but only under their Norton (their home-user line) brand name. Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition is an app far more apt to being sold by site-license or multi-user license, not in single-user, OEM format. The fact that you appear to have been sold Symantec AV Corporate 10.2.0.298 strikes me as rather suspicious, too. No legitimate retailer sells point-point-point patch releases of software. It should be Symantec 10, nay a digit nor period more.
A cursory Googling confirms my suspicions. Not one retailer out of the top twenty results is selling a physical copy, and most retailers appear to be the same one retailer, except with a different URL. It looks like you've either been had, or you're telling us porkies.
I'd get in touch with your credit card company.

Doubtful. He did say "purchase", and, well, they wouldn't provide us workers with whole rooms full of stationary to steal if they didn't intend for us to use it to copy down license keys and take them home too, would they?

Yes, I purchased this software from work to be exact it was the only way. They purchased the software license and it allows 25 users.
Since I rent my space at my location as an independent contractor I went ahead and purchased into it since it didn't end up costing me that much anyway.
I pay for my software and I don't go cheap on anti-virus protection. Hell, If I wanted free I would just download AVG anti-virus free edition.
I hope that defines the meaning in clear detail. I was taking my system home during the weekends and it wasn't automatically updating everyday so now I know
why because I'm not on their network with my computer when the systems hear. It make since now, that's why I have to manually update the software here vs
at work where it always updates automatically! Cool at least I know now......
