So I have the oppurtunity to pick up an x6800 for a Dually that I've been meaning to build.

Specs would be (so far)
680i SLI (possibly 780i, will be using third PCI-E for Raid Card)
4GB DDR2 1066 (manufacturer not decided)
3870 X2, or GTX (more than likely two 8800GT's in SLI)
For the Time being, Onboard Sound
Viewsonic 22inch (1680x1050 resolution)
Drives, raptor = os, and more 750's for storage

Should I just shoot for an e8400 as originally planned (looking for 4Ghz minimum)
or what should I offer for this x6800?

$20... that's about what it's worth since the E8400 came out.

Seriously, don't pay more than about $200 for it. The E8400 is a far better buy currently.

Yeah I realize that, that's why i'm trying to see what would be the best offer for this if anything really.

We'll find out tomorrow

The E8400 is faster, has more cache, runs cooler, OC better. Unless you can find a x6800 that is significantly cheaper than a E8400, like 60% or something. Don't bother.

I offered 160, (half of what he was asking)
So we'll see.
Ashame to see this "extreme" edition go out of "style" so fast!

The guys covered it go for the e8400 unless you get a great deal and good luck with the build.

Newegg wants $1,015.00 , aint they one of the top online sellers? thats a bit pricey to say the least.

The X6800 is only worth it on laptops if you ask me. I will have an X6800 in my next lappy or an X9000
