Not sure the difference between this board and the Striker II Extreme as they're both of the R.O.G series, maybe the Pinot Noir uses the 790i Ultra chipset.

wow that looks nice.
but what people have said from other forums is what about the people with watercooling loops inside their case. is there a way to point the openings inside so they can be connected or would you have to do an obnoxious loop back inside through an expansion port cover?

hat would be stupid if you actually had to go through the expansion slots to hook it up to your loop, looks nice nonetheless.

The Striker II Extreme has the waterblock right on the northbridge.

Yeah, don't know why Asus named the board after some red wine.

This board is X48 based! Paired with ICH10R.
Damn, how could the media make such a big blunder of reporting the wrong chipset? LOL

Too bad it's DDR-3 only.

Yes, thankfully it's X48 - hence the X on the southbridge.

I really hope they still overwork this flawed design though, as installing a vga card in the upper slot would cover up the only pci-e x1 slot :thumbdwn:
They should simply switch it w/ the pci slot above it, then you can also install two dual-slot cards w/o the upper one running crazy hot.

Well it does have 3x 16x PCI-E slots.

There is the Rampage Formula for DDR2. And I think there's also the DDR3 version Rampage Extreme.

True, the DDR2 Rampage is also a very nice board.
I won't buy a new board anytime soon, I really like this P35 ASUS.

My next upgrade will be Nehalem.

but then u wont be ahead of the competition! :p
