New 9800gtx is 512Mb memory ,old 8800Gtx have 768Mb. Allmost all test say 512 is enough......But if you like tweak your games ,It's another game.

Let's play Stalker Full dynamic lightning in 1680x1050x2xAA +Float32.

With 8800gts 640Mb: memory runs out and then BSOD
8800GTX 768Mb report smooth gameplay with no BSOD.

9800gtx with 512Mb.......You gues it. Short of memory.

And oblivion+ huge texturepacks uses lot of texturememory (well over 700Mb)

How much new stalker:clear sky needs memory??? With AA.

People change their 8800gts/gtx cards to 512 g92 cards and are very happy. Small resolution and no AA work in these memory hungry games.

Maybe it's only some games that use that much memory today ,but i play very modded Oblivion and Stalker right now and i don't like lagging. G80 memory sizes are right way,not g90 512Mb. Gainward sees that ,and releases 1Gb cards. Community maybe crusifies me ,but 512 is not too much today ,and tomorrow it's........stuttering:)

first of all, why got you thinking that the 9800gtx is going to have 512mb of memory, you shouldn't believe everything that you hear at the inquier. It would make no sense for it to have any less than 768mb of memory. If your going to post information like this provide a link of your source.

It reeks of bs, those are are supposilly photos of the 9800gts. This is not confirmed by any means and needs to be moved to the rumor mill. MOD!!!!

Why would it BSOD? Thats an MS issue isn't it?

1 gb should be the standard.

Test with control panel override AA settings and 1,005 patch in stalker, stalker ingame AA not work. I run 8800gts sli with Win Xp. Without AA game takes allmost half of memory needed to 2xAA with multisampling. I use Rivatuner hardware monitoring to measure and it's go over 700Mb and then BSOD. I don't know why Stalker not like much non-local videomemory.

You are one of the few people still xperiencing a problem like this, don't make it sound like its mainstream.
