Still pretty slow [Archive]

Just installed the new driver... on:
RedHat8.0 up2dated
2.4.18-27.8.0smp #1 SMP
GeForce3 Ti500
The performance of the card is good: >3000fps,
but it still takes like 5min. for X to start.

I tried the
Option "IgnoreDisplayDevices" "CRT"
, but the computer doesn't start X at all in that case.

Please help... somebody..

Why are you ignoring the CRT? What do you have hooked up? It's usually TV that causes the delay and needs to be ignored.

Yeah, when I read the suggestion about Ignoring the CRT, it didn't make much sense.. I mean, why would you want the graphics card to completely ignore the display device??

The directions in the README weren't very clear. I understand them now. I changed the line to:
Option "IgnoreDisplayDevices" "DFP, TV"

It's perfect now. Mucho thanks
