I remember reading this had problems last year. Has it stabilized any now? I know we have rivatuner but i like Ntune's simplicity of upping the core and mem like the old coolbits hack. Everytime I used Rivatuner, I felt like I was breaking a transistor or something on my video card!!!!

"Yes, ntune 6 work pretty well"
umm.....there is no ntune 6?
maybe your talking about ntools 6...that is for sli configurations btw.
The latest ntune is 5.05.54.00 on nvidia's website for Vista 32/64, dated 9/19/2007.
I haven't given it a shot yet myself...

ntools 6 and ntune 5.05 works for vista x64 with or without sli
ntune 5.05 does NOT remember any settings for fan or GPU in Vista 64, at least not for me yet. I'm pissed and very dissapointed at Nvidia.

How is the rest of the world without an Nfarce motherboard supposed to overclock their GeForce cards?

You have to do it twice. Press it once, let it reset and do it again. Or do you mean between restarts?
I'm just using Rivatuner. Do I need to keep that installed for it to work? Because right now, it seems to run a service, something "wrapper".

Yep, problem is between restarts. Not sure if Riva Turner works in Vista 64-bit, it didn't last time I tried due to no signed drivers, it also has to be run all the time I think, as service if you want.
This is all too bad, I have owned Nvidia cards all the way since TNT era, but with Vista, which is otherwise a superb OS all went wrong with Nvidia. Nothing works as before or is missing from the CP etc... I'm not sure if ATI is any better though, but I'll check them out next time I upgrade that's for sure.
I guess that, if you have a Nforce motherboard a lot of things will start working again, but without stepping on any toes too much, I must say that I don't trust Nforce that much. As one Asus tech once said, it takes 10-15 years to learn how to make good stable motherboards. Nvidia is a still a child in that sence...

Riva tuner works fine with vista64, driver signing enforcement or not. I've had no problems since version 2.06, maybe earlier, and the current 2.08 is fine aswell.
