I'd like to see performance numbers like that but I think even a GT200 will have problems delivering constant and smooth framerates at those settings.
Even with Tri-SLI there were problems :)

Yea it should be 3X as fast :( Well the 3870X2 kinda sucks as well with the GTS holding its own against it we really don't have much to chose from here.. an other round goes to Nvidia the ripoff
Let me say I am no ATI/NV fav I like both and ALWAYS get both. I have Foxconn GTX came clocked at 630 and a 3870x2 man if your gonna lie do a better job. The ONLY game ONLY game that my GTX beats my 3870x2 is GOTHIC III. And if you REALLY know your SH** then you know everyones computer is different and reviews dont mean much.. They give us an idea of what we can expect. Lately been playing Tabula Rasa (waiting for Conan) now where the GTX gets 41 the 3870x2 gets 60. end.
I really thought the price for the 9800gx2 was going to be lower but even if its at least 30% faster this is not worth it. It comes with nothing new but speed and just to play Crysis faster? I'm just saying if you have a Ultra/GTX I think waiting for NV's next round is the way to go lol unless you just HAVE to play crysis then woot!

come on with the 9800GX2 already geezzz lets see some realworld benchmarks so we can see nvidia stock plummet
Unfortunately (for consumers) and fortunately (for NVDA shareholders) nVidia has so saturated the market that everyone is going to buy nVidia, and the 9800GX2 is no different regardless of benchmarking. I don't think the majority of informed nvnews members will buy it, but just watch the "I just got the 9x00..." thread.
It's a card for the people that have gotta have the fastest card. People always complain when a new, highly expensive card comes out, and talk about how so and so is screwing their customers. Yet these cards still exist on the shelves, so someone must buy 'em. As for being a failure, they don't expect to sell very many at that price point. 8800 GT, 9600 GT, and lower are where the real profits are. Having the fastest thing out gets them more in marketing than it does in profits.
Anyways, 2 PCB's, 2 GPU's, associated circuitry, 2x the ram, 2x the memory buses.... it's gonna be expensive. What did you all expect? Things aren't getting much faster until faster memory is available.

$679 is really wicked :thumbdwn:
You can get a 3870x2 for $409 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102723) already on newegg!
That's a whopping 66% more for the gx2, and even if they play out their shady OCing trick to the fullest, they won't even come remotely close to a performance increase of 66% over the x2 :headexplode:
Such a hefty price was already hinted at at Cebit, and now we see it's really true. What an immense rip-off! :thumbdwn:
