Just saw this over at Guru3D (http://www.guru3d.com/news.php#6621): GeForce 9800 GX2 spotted for $600 in US

Though we're merely a week away from the actual launch, the CeBIT where showing the new GX2 cards everywhere. Now in addition to that pricing is starting to become apparent. Guru3D Forum user AudioFreak39 noticed shopblt.com's inventory after having just preordered his Q9450 last night, and stumbled upon this:

They aren't shipping until the 22nd according to the current inventory status. But in reality, it looks like the price of this card isn't going to get much cheaper than this. You can't really beat sub $600 for something that's supposedly going to outperform an 8800 Ultra, which is still $630 at cheapest.

Then there is Newr, also a forum visitor. He was visiting Fry's and check out the sticker on the shelf, a 667.99 USD retail price.

Meh.... I was expecting this and if it's not 2x fast I will be happy in a way. For the price of a pair of 8800gt's it should be more than 2x.

I can grab another 8800gt for under 200 bucks. :)

Yea it should be 3X as fast :( Well the 3870X2 kinda sucks as well with the GTS holding its own against it we really don't have much to chose from here.. an other round goes to Nvidia the ripoff

Jesus...when it hits AUS its gonna be like over $1k...**** that....too much. It has to be atleast 3x faster than 8800GT in SLI to be worth it...and thats in Crysis.

Sure it's expensive but you don't need a nV chipset to get those performance levels.

Unless this card will run Crysis @ 1600x1200 with everything on very high.... I'll pass

Unless this card will run Crysis @ 1600x1200 with everything on very high.... I'll passI think that will be key. If this card comes out and nearly doubles Crysis performance, it'll sell well. If not, I think many will see it as a "band-aid" card and skip it.

If it's as good as 8800 GTS 512Mb SLi I may try one. I'd love to be able to keep P35 and use an nVidia card.

I've alread tried an HD 3870 X2 and that was a wet fart.

Fry's is the worst place to buy a GPU, they are always more expensive than e-tailers.

I'd like to see performance numbers like that but I think even a GT200 will have problems delivering constant and smooth framerates at those settings.
