If you don't need the box cooler that it comes with then it will save you $15, so I don't see why not.

No I don't need the box fan but I guess I'm just leary of buying an OEM CPU. Don't know why cuz I've bought OEM drives b4 ??

I have a OEM Q6600, great chip, i chose the OEM simply bacause i already had a Ultra-120 eXtreme, apart from it dont come in a retail box with fan ect theres no difference in chips from the retail to the OEM!(well as far as i know)

Unless it has changed since I worked in the business, the warranty is 1 year on OEM's and 3 Years on Retail...Could have changed though...

This one has a 90 day limited, but that doesn't matter really cuz I'm using an after market cooler which voids it anyway.

I usally always bought OEM and never had a problem with it .Most of the time if a processor is going to last a year then it is going to last three years ,unless you abuse it ,by running it at high tempertures.I never use the heatsink that come with them because I know that I am going to be overclocking it ,and need a better heatsink anyway.I have never had one go bad on me and I run them overclocked ,but I make sure they don't run to hot.

If you use after market coolers then OEM's are the way to go if they are cheaper. having said that i have had my E4300 for 1 year now :o was pretty sure i would of had a quad by now :(
