You obviously haven't gone through the review that Muya Posted in the Geforce 7,8,9 Series Forum

http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1331/1/page_1_introduction/index.html

I don't see the GX2 owning or beating the X2 in any way (especially not in Vista) from this site's actual review of the card in question.

JC
The drivers used for that "review" do not enable internal sli(only one GPU is used) nor dose it use one GPU that is enabled to its fullest abilities. So you obviously havn't understood that review that Muya Posted in the Geforce 7,8,9 Series Forum.

Ok fair enough, but if they didn't have Sli bars, I doubt that they would have bothered completing the review.....so your no multigpu scenario doesn't really add up.

JC
It's not from a reliable source to say the least.... Come on dude, know what your talking about before you open your mouth.

That's twice on this page that you've made less than friendly comments, personally attacking anyone who expresses an opinion different from yours.

I think that you better learn to filter your comments and phrase your responses in a reasonable and civilized manner before an admin with the ban-hammer finds you calling other forum members "idiots" and telling us to watch what we say.

Don't be so sensitive, didn't realize I could hurt someones feelings via a comment in a thread on an Nvidia Graphics card enthusiast forum:headexplode:

I wasn't coming at you personally, but merely trying to informed a obviously uninformed member, just spreading the knowledge.:type:

If you don't like my opinions or comments, take the higher road and don't respond to them. By responding to my "unreasonable" and "uncivilized" comments you are merely fueling my need to post more "unreasonable" and "uncivilized" comments, spreading terror and anarchy throughout the entire forum. Muahahaha:rw:

:ass:

p.s. I've included some smilies so you can follow along with the text, and to help illustrate my point

ANd you think that I am going to get banned for telling Slammin that he was an idiot. It was called for due to his out of line comments, and here comes the quote

This place is getting almost as bad as Creative forums with all the whining.

I mean really, wtf does WHQL buy you anyway? And who's forcing you to install drivers with modded .inf's, that somebody else already went thru the trouble of modding for you anyway?

Sheeze.

And why, even though nVidia holds the speed crown, do folks keep complaining that their new products are not fast enough? At this point, they have a product at every price point that is faster than the competition, and maybe that is their goal?

<rant mode> =OFF

Now, back to your regularily scheduled whining.

He comments had no real substance, and were straight out idiotic, and I called him out on it.

Thats the beauty of this forum, slammin can post comments that me and others(conroejoe) think is idiotic, and we can call him out on it, and that's the end of the story.

I still relativly new here, but people don't tend to get banned for expressing their opinions, kind of like america, with out the tourtering, and wire tapping(unless Mike reads all of our pm's)

Lastly sorry about going off on a rant:fu:, but this thread has pretty much been derailed, lets try to get it back on topic: We are finally going to see come new drivers tomorrow in the form of the gx2, which hopefully come with some improvements/enhancements/fixes for the 8-series.

Can we all get along :alc:

Wow, to get called an idiot, and also to 'kind of' have ConroeJoe included, even though he didn't actually participate, is about as huge a compliment as anyone here could hope for.

Well, having BigMan call me an idiot is what I'm shooting for, but until then, I am so happy!

I don't know about you guys, but Forceware is really crap. What a terrible support by Nvidia for $1200 i spend on 8800GTX cards which are still the fastest on the market.

Well, if you spend 1200$ on something and haven't done your homework - then you have only yourself to blame. Nvidia has other priorities than coming out with drivers for an old card. Just look at htc with their 1000$devices that aren't even working due to lack of video acceleration(no driver for the gpu), same thing - they don't care; they're just happy you bought their product and no amount of drivers will make them more money, unless if it helps them sell more of their new cards the 9800x2&9600gt.

Dude wtf you're talking about. Driver support sucks from release date. I have these cards for over a year and i'm still waiting on decent drivers. What makes you think 9800GTX will work fine, heck it has less power then 8800GTX.

You are an Idiot.

I kind of agree, though I really just think his comment was a little irate in your post. NVIDIA has not reached the point that Creative has in driver support.

Last year, their driver releases were pretty consistent, with a decent flow of WHQL and official drivers from there site. There was the occasional leak as well. This pattern has shifted ever since December, when 169.25 was the last OFFICIAL WHQL driver on there site. Now we seem to only see releases for the new 9xxxx series of card and not the older ones. So much for them saying there drivers are Unified...

What I meant was that nvidia's number one priority isn't making perfect drivers for old cards - it's making drivers that make their cards seem attractive to the customer.

And I know that the driver support sucked from the start, which is why I didn't go the sli route and why I waited until the g92 to buy a new card. And yes I believe that the driver support is going to be much better for the 9800gtx than it was for the 8800gtx, because it's based on the same architecture that they've been working on for god knows how long and because it's their main priority right now.

Did anyone notice that the 9800GX2 got "Quantum Physics"? Is that the new Ageia port we were hearing about? If so, is it still software as nVidia promised? And if SO (lol), does this do anything for us 8-series owners? Or is it hardware?

I was about to purchase a 7950GX2 until the 8-series came out, so I grabbed a 640MB. I didn't purchase the 7950GX2 because of no multiple monitor support. Has anyone ever thought it was weird that the ONLY card with 4 DVI connectors doesn't support multi-monitors? It is a problem with SLI (7950GX2 with single GPU has multi-monitor support), I know, but seems like a waste.

I'm p!ssed about the drivers, too. Not for performance reasons, but features and a wider range of fixes. I mean, why doesn't nVidia keep their promises? I think ATI has, but I'm not sure. Anyone have an open letter in the works? nVidia = lying cheapos. Something to the effect of that would be best.

Poop on you, nVidia, poop on you. (<<<<<-Can someone do a smiley for this?) Would be fricking hilarious.

All 8-series gpu's support Quantum physics too and its useless.

You must be kidding me. How many people have 8800GTX'S? The simply can't stop supporting it properly simply because they have new tech out or they feel its old. In fact the 8800gtx is still available to buy in the shops ffs.

Kinda off topic a bit, but the 7900 GX2 was the initial dual gpu card, here is a pic (http://www.firingsquad.com/media/hirez.asp?file=/hardware/nvidia_geforce_7900_gx2_quad_sli/images/01.jpg)of it. If you remember CES 2006, quad SLI was announced with the Dell XPS 600 Renegade, with two of these cards. They had heat, size, performance, and power consumption issues, which is why they were redesigned using the revised 7950.

W T F Nvidia? Yeah yeah, there has been tons of leaks, modded 9 series drivers and some betas, but come on!
Get yourself an ATi card then, every month new WHQL drivers(nana2)

I never said they stopped supporting it; it just moved down on their priority list. Drivers are still gonna come out, but right now I think they've probably got their hands full with the 9800gx2. I bet we'll see new whql drivers after the initial 9800gx2 kinks have been worked out.

On the card that probably 5% will buy. I know it might become a popular card, but there aren't too many situations (for many gamers) where a GTX isn't fast enough.

Doesn't the 9800-series include PureVideo HD decode capabilities, which only the 8400/8500 cards supported?

Naa, purevideo was available on the original 8800's(gts gtx), they just enhanced it for the low end (8400/8500/8600), due to the weak nature of the low end, it was needed in order to prevent lag/degration of quality during hd playback.

I thin that they tweaked the pure vidoe capabilities in the 9-series as well as some tweaking in the ROPs.

Has 8 series driver development halted at 169? Will we ever see a 174 driver designed and released for the 8 series?
It doesn't look good, does it?
