He hasn't even started to push it yet-

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=178546

I may try one those + a QX9650(or Q9450) and Tri-SLi with 9800GTs or GTXs. We will see how it all shapes up over time.

Looking good.

Have you noticed FUGGER's E8400 speed further down the page. 595.9 FSB x9 = 5362.6 Mhz with the SkullTrail. Amazing!

Looks like a winner for enthusiasts. Those guys @ XS don't play around.

That is the 790i, he's talking about.

Check out the second page Fugger got 612 FSB out of the 790i. This is my next upgrade. :)

Wow, hadn't seen that.

As soon as DDR3 price drop to a 'reasonable' price i'll be looking to get one too. I think my next upgrade is gonna be a big one so i'm gonna get as much as I can out of this one for now. Might even start from scratch and sell this.

I cant wait to open up the x7 multi on my Q6600, 2188Mhz FSB FTW!

This would make one of those 45nm Quads REALLY tempting...

To bad you take it in the ARSE buying DDR3 still.

Say so long to my new 780i as soon it launches.....

Hope this motherboard comes out in the next few weeks, so I can return my 780i back to Micro Center. :D

How much is 8GB DDR3 right now?

Well 8GB DDR3 would be extremely expensive, I was just going to roll with this memory when the 790i is released.

These g.skill's (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231167) look nice as well  HZ's have a history of being solid performers, I've owned two kits myself. Unfortunately, this is the first 2x2GB HZ i've seen.

My next will be Nehalem :)
+1 (8 core, so thats next year easy)

I don't think 8 core will be available for the desktop next year, only for servers.

Do ya know if it'll be socket 775 or will they be changing that? If so i'm sure an updated Striker will be out to take the new chip.

DDR3 is still silly money IMO. Getting slowly cheaper though.

This was almost 400 a month or two back.

No, it won't be socket 775. There will be two sockets for Nehalem desktop chips. Socket 1366 for Bloomfiled that supports tripple channel DDR3 with a norhbridge chip, dual PCIe 16x lanes. Socket 1160 for Lynnfield with integrated memory controller and dual channel DDR3 support, single PCIe 16x. There's also socket 1567 for the 8-core server chips which won't be out till Q4 2009. Very confusing I know...

You really think it will take until 2010 to see single socket 8 cores for desktops? Not even an EE?

I see. So Intel are dropping support for 4 graphics cards then, interesting.

Just found this quick read on Nehalm for anyone who's interested. http://shyamkol.blogspot.com/2007/11/three-intel-nehalem-processors-on-road.html

AFAIK Intel plans to release a 8 Core EE Nehalem in the first half of 2009.

I think it's a quad core with HT making a return, with 4 physical, 8 logical cores.

Thats the memory I have, does 1640MHz easy peasy, probably will do 1700MHz but I haven't pushed it yet.

How does that memory compare to

OCZ Platinum 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit

That is what I am looking at purchasing, but if the G.Skull is better I will get that.
