Guy's I've been a hardware fanatic since the early 1990's, and I've never seen anything like what I just saw at teh Rage3D boards.

I kid you not, there is an ATI emplyee browsing the R9700 forum, asking if he can help anyone. He's answering direct questions, and trying to solve anyones issues that might come up on a case by case basis. He was one of the designers of the R9700. Now that's what I call customer support!

Ever seen that happen before?

He knows that there are so many problems that he's going to get pre-ready for them ;) j.k :D

We sort of have something like that here. Nvidia actually coordinated with nV News about the Linux forum.

I think it is very wise of companies to browse the foums of fansites, because it helps them know what needs to be fixed.

Yep the people on rage3d are pretty cool. Dont just start flame wars all day long. And the ATI employees on the boards are always EXTREMELY helpful with any problems that pop up now and then.

I wouldn't say that there aren't flame wars on Rage3D, lol, but they aren't that common. I think it's to do with the fact that everybody has had to stick together through the hardship of the past few years. ;) :D

The the ATi post regarding the Catalyst release was cool, and the Remote Wonder post was especially neat - had a really nice "LOOK WHAT WE DID FOR YA!" kind of feel about it. :)

THe True is ,that is alot moooooooore better
"less need for great customer support" with Rock solid quality
harware ,than an amazing customer support with problematic harware... :)

WHen you buy something that works flawlessly out of the box
no customer support is needed ;)

Thats what i call a great customer support , a one that is not
needed ;)

excuse me but i disagree with you!
i have never told that Nvidia drivers are perfect ,however
they are very close :)
at least from my experience since Tnt2 ,i have never had a Need
For customer support or a need for new Drivers ..period.
for little tweaks, any free utilities like Rivaturner,Powerstrip
will do the Job . So take a look a RAge3dforums because they have
a HUGE list of games with problems and instability issues with some
boards with the Radeon9700 and it looks no so diferent that
when the times of RAdeon2 launch ..;)

never got any big problem or stability issues with my TNT2/Geforce2/Geforce3/and finally Geforce4 ,
None problems with drivers ,none need for customer support at least
for me.,still i have my old Geforce2Gts in my secong pc a NONE problems with games or aplications and NONE stabilitie issues..
Drivers install very easily ,no need here to hunt for leaked Drivers
to fix issues with some games ,maybe im just the only one Guy with Luck here ,but thats the Truth, and you will be very disapointed
if you think Nvidia Nv30 drivers will be less quality than what we have today, and that what i call a Kick ass customer support ,
a one that is not needed ,because the product works FLawlessly
out of the Box... ;)

card is not released yet and they have problems already  :D lol

none of the reviews had any problems ;)

and don't compare TnT 2 you prolly don't remeber tnt 1 lol what a joke it was Voodoo was way supperior , but yes ATI was no competition back then and if some have problems does not mean that others have also , alot of Ati fans say they have zero problems with they card just like you lol :D and in the past Nvidia cards had alot of problems also everyone does ;) , geez give some credit to ATI they sarted to make good cards later then Nvidia and 3dfx

Voodoo wasn't "way superior" to TNT1. TNT1 was probably a better card than Voodoo Banshee first of all.

Voodoo2 advantanges: faster
Glide support

TNT advantages: no need for 2d card
supports resolutions higher than 800X600
supports 32bit color(at least i think it did)

yes, there are lots of people who played games at 1024 or higher with their TNTs, and didn't care that they weren't getting a high framerate.

I was a 3dfx die hard until I saw the TNT in action on my buddy's PC. Seeing Quake 3 run on his system at 800x600 in 32-bit color at the same rate as my Voodoo3 did at the same resolution in 16-bit color made me realize that NVIDIA made the superior product and this was the beginning of the end of 3dfx.

Voodoo was not "way superior" compared to the TNT, at least based on my own personal experience.

To add to the TNT's advantages, AGP texturing, which 3dfx cards never supported.

lol TNT 1 is no way faster then Voodoo3  TNT 2 Ultra yes but not TNT 1 lol it sucks Voodoo2 does better , i and my buddies playd Half life and TNT could not keep up with Voodoo 2 no way ;)
yeah Glide was fun to on Unreal Tournamen but its history so lets end this FLAME WAR

Nvidia is good
ATI is good
3dfx was good
everyone is cool with that :D stop useless wars

one thing i always *hated* about 3dfx cards was that you couldn't alt-tab out of games or they would crash

Why are we shocked when a company actually gives a decent level of support? Have we (the computer community) fallen so low as to not expect good service and support?

We expect not to get good support because the trend of many, many companies and resellers has been to give consumers the shaft whenever they have a problem. This has been a trend for probably the last 4-5 years with companies putting customers through hell before they can get any support whatsoever. You honestly can't blame end users for feeling this way when the companies themselves have caused our expectations to be lowered.

I have to agree with Nv40 that many times, the best service and support is not havinvg to need it at all. :)

Look at the title underneath my user name and be enlightened, my son.

It's the latest series from Kosuke Fujishima, a name I need not explain to you, fellow AMG lover. ;)

I leave it up to you, but I watched it at a convention last weekend and bought the DVD the next day.

I loved it, but then again I'm a car nut and this series is right up my alley. :D

If you're not into cars that much, then it may be a little more sketchy. Again, it's up to you if you want to buy it or not. Me, I fully intend to get the 2nd DVD the moment it comes out at the end of October.

Saturn,

what do you think of InitialD?

It's a series I very much want to see, but unfortunately the only way I could obtain a copy of it would be to get an Engrish subtitled Hong Kong DVD. I made that mistake with the You're Under Arrest Specials and, while Engrish subtitling can be very amusing, it really gets in the way of trying to fully understand what the heck is going on.

There's little doubt in my mind the InitialD anime will make its way stateside, it's simply a matter of when. The manga is available, but when I was at Anime Iowa last weekend, I didn't have the money to spare on a copy of volume 1. :(

If you went to this year's Anime Expo, Tokyopop had a lifesized Initial D model car outside and a oversized bag (for stuffing your merchandize) that had the Initial D logo on one side.
