top loading dvd players

whatever happened to top loading dvd players? they were quite rare. do they still make any? why are tray loading dvd players more popular?

I'd be interested in that kind of info too , but seems there aren't much members into DVD-players around here.

thanks for the link but i neglected to mention i didnt mean portable ones i saw one by philips in target several years ago that wasnt portable and it seems odd that theyre so rare and i never saw another ever again
