Well, among other things...in the EFF's e-letter tonight, they gave a link to a site that, well allows one to establish a web server on their home PC (of course you need broadband, and one real IP as your machine will act as a server for non-local IP addresses). On it, one can enter a URL...and then browse from school or corporate (or any other PC) to their home PC. From here, they can have their home PC fetch the web pages that are blocked by content filters for one.

It is rather undoubtful that the school has blocked access to one's home PC via their content filters...and it requires no alteration of browser's proxy settings. Course, clearing the browser history afterwards can help...so as to minimize break crumbs (I'm browsing to

http://[my IP]

a lot...

The thing links to here

From what was indicated, content filtering software doesn't yet detect or work around this circumvention technique.

A proxy one can put on their home machine from the look of it, which also uses SSL (secure socket layer) for the connection. Thing probably is in large part...people don't expect these things on residential computers set up by the users themselves, for use when away from home...

Wasn't there a utility called "Triangleboy" that did the same thing? Either way, damn difficult to block... cool
