Hi

Could someone tell me what the correct CPU Ratio (set in BIOS) is for the AthlonXP 2800+ CPU? FSB is 166 and CPU Ratio is 12.5 at the moment.

I'm using a Chaintech 7NJS Zenith MB, PC3200 DDR - the MB user manual only goes upto XP 2700+ and the CPU Ratio is 13 for that.

Any help, or a link to where I can see CPU Ratios for all AthlonXP CPU's would be excellent.

Thanks in advance.

GS.

PS. I mean the normal CPU Ratio, i.e. not overclocked.

To figure out the correct multiplier, just take the actual clock speed of the processor and divide it by the fsb.

For example, my 2400+ processor is 2.0 GHz. Take that, divide by 133 and you get 15.

I'm pretty sure that the 2800+ clocks in at 13.5 x 166 MHz.

I know that 13 x 166 is a 2700+ ('cause my 2100+ once booted up at that, but it ran too hot).

I also know that 12x166 is a 2400+ ('cause my same 2100+ currently runs at that).

Cheers,

The multiplier depends on which version (Barton or non-Barton) of XP2800+ you are using. I have the Barton-version myself, and it uses a multipler of 12.5

Is there a way to find out if its a Barton? it's a bought system so I'm not sure.

Any help appreciated.

I found that its more accurate to calculate the cpu speed by using the most accurate numbers you can.

For Example:
166x12.5= 2075
but
166.6666666666x12.5= 2083

Windows system info says my CPU is at 2088, and so does my BIOS. Its not exactly as calculated but, its more accurate to use the big long decimal numbers :)

I suggets that you look at the size of the L2-cache, if it's 512KB then it's a Barton.

I'm sure there are easier ways though, someone?
