I spent about 12 hours on deciding whether I should buy either Q6600 or the new E8400

I decided to buy Q6600.

I also analysed the purpose of my PC, well, games 40% video encoding 30% dvd burning and file decompression 30%

I still have my brilliant Scythe Ninja which I think will allow me to overclock to processor to at least 3.0GHz

Do you think I've made a good decision?

You will enjoy very much. Hitting 3.0Ghz will take almost no effort :)

In your situation you made the best choice. Having nineteen cores if you do any encoding/ripping is freaking awesome.

Great choice m8, Q6600 is a beast for it's price. Way better than E8400 IMO.

Well im happy you bought a Q6600, but if you were to go dual core get the E8500!! It can easily break 4.5ghz. I've seen it get 3Dmark06 scores of 20+k!!!

Well, the thing is that I tend to do many things at once. For example, I use converxtodvd to convert avi to dvd, and at the same time, I may burn a dvd or play call of duty 4. I think Quad will make it much more smooth.

What to you think about the mobo and the memory?

You haven't ordered them yet?

Well if you can live with a single gfx solution or some ati's then intel is the way to go. I really like the dfi p35/x38, performs good, decent price, looks sexy. g.Skills 4gb(2x2) ddr800 seems to be the best deal right now.
