Apologies if this is an obvious question...

It appears that the NVIDIA Solaris x86 driver only officially supports the Quadro GPUs (per this link (http://us.download.nvidia.com/solaris/169.12/README/appendix-c.html)), yet there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that some GeForce cards also work (albeit unsupported). Eg, newest beta driver (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=109423) annouces support for GeForce 9600 GT.

Is there any way to know for sure whether a particular GeForce card is going to work with this driver? Or is it just trial and error.

Thanks in advance...

A given NVIDIA Solaris graphics driver release is capable of driving the same set of GPUs that the NVIDIA Linux graphics driver release of the same version is capable of driving. However, only Quadro GPUs are officially supported on Solaris.

Thanks for that info. I see the list of supported GPUs for the Linux driver 169.12 is here (http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/169.12/README/appendix-a.html). The card I was planning to buy is in there! Thanks very much.
