I am unable to start X due I believe to incompatibilities between the kernel: 2.4.20-8smp and the newest drivers.
I'm running on dual Athlon CPUs, with a GeForce4
I have been unable to install the 4191 drivers.
I have downloaded and installed the 4349 drivers from
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-4349/
NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4349.tar.gz
and
NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4349.tar.gz
However X does not start, for reasons above.
I have attached the log of the output of the installation commands as well as my XFree86.0.log file, and XF86Config file.
Sorry if this is a newbie question- Please help if you know what needs to be done to get X up and running again. Will I have to wait for the newest drivers? Will I have do reinstall an older kernel? :(
Thanks.
p.s. my files are not being attached. I'll try a couple times in this thread.
