ATI said late April on it's release.
I think they missed it. :angel3:
I really want to see how that badboy is going
to run. I know it's going to be fast. :firedevil:

I think they are waiting to see what the competition has to offer first. ;)

I think we just got ATI's marketing too:p
"Are you ready for more!.....waiting":p
I'd get this card. but it would not really be worth it since I have the 9700. I'll wait for the NV35 before I'll consider a upgrade:cool:

Yeah, I get the feeling that they are going to wait and see the final clocks of the Nv35, Then at least get a couple cards out there from their partners that perform in the same ball park.
Of course, at this point.. the 9800pro is beyond fast enough for this years games until Doom-III comes out. And really, its even fast enough for that game also. Crap on my 9700pro i am currently getting about 200 FPS average in the game I am currently obsessed with... Endless Ages.
I wonder if it will really matter to people if the Nv35 is 20 FPS faster than the 9800pro under certain conditions, being that their AA is the same old same old. It will also depend on their final Memory clocks. I have heard ranging from 350 to 450. So well see. thats going to have the biggest impact on performance for them.
Ultimately the 400/460 256mb 9800pro would be an even draw with the Nv35 in most cases. Thus other than IQ i think we could be at parity until later this year... Then.. The Monster gets unleashed... and i honestly dont know what, or if Nvidia has anything ready to counter before spring of next year.
According to the Inq

The NV35Ultra will be a 450/450 part.

I think they're just waiting to see what they're gonna be competing against, I don't expect to see it out until JUST after the NV35 launch once we all get to see how nVidia's new best can actually perform.
Remember, the current 9800 Pro came out a lot slower than people thought it would. As Hellbinder pointed out they could have released it a lot faster, but didn't see the need.
I think they're going to see what they need to top the NV35 beyond question and put it out at that. (ATi sure seems like they're gearing up for SOMETHING big, 'specially with the way they're pushing promotions & interviews over at DH to celebrate their first anniversary. I'm not knocking it, I think it's a great thing since I think I might be in the running to win a 9800 Pro...I'm FINALLY able to enter the competitions there! :D )

Well, the humor was there Vamp...but it just don't fly with ATi.
Most people think that ATi could release the 256MB tomorrow if they really felt like it....they're just strategifying the sucker's release in a tactical move on nVidia.
nVidia was bloody HOW late with the FX? ATi has been a completely different story, you can actually believe 'em once in a while. ;)

Well, i called Alienware and asked if they had the 9800Pro 256mb and he said they do.
I asked 'can you buy just the card' and he laughed and said 'no' as i expected.
With the BUT, if you orderd tomorow you woudlnt get it for like 2 weeks i think, so they could kinda be 'preselling' but they know when they will get them. He didnt know the clocks, just said it will be faster.
Thats some food for thought................ ....... . a complete system (loaded) is 2599$ not really expensive compared to what systems usto cost a few years ago.
BTW, dose anyone know if Dell is pulling their same 'Radeon 9700PRO 'le' with their new offering of the 9800?
Is that with monitor? I know their standard systems don't come with monitors.

Hmm good question, the picture they were showing their case (in a shiney blue). My friend borrowed my PC Gamer so i cant look, but i do think it came with a 17''?
If you go customize you have to pick a monitor, it's 1500 bux for a 20" LCD  Man LCD's are still pretty expensive.

HellBinder was correct about this one (like him or not) - WTF was ATI thinking on this one? I was expecting at least a 400/400 part. Now with the NV35 previews showing up, it makes me wonder if ATI has been smoking something hallucinogenic this year.

Well if anything, ATi did kinda make the realization about the 256mb version.
The best way to sell it is though OEM's such as Alienware.
Even if it dosnet preform much more than the 128mb since companys like alienware, voodoo etc are in a constant pissing contest (we have more ghz's more ram etc).
So it sounds good and if your buying a 4k rig from them you will tink to your self, whats another 100 - 200$ (depending on markup!!!) for an extra 128mb of ddr II ram on your videa card right?
I am not a fan of that card......
I think it was a mistake not to up the cards clocks........ add 128mb of ram and keep the clocks the same.... hmmmm who's running that show gilligan?
Besides i am sure DDR-2 slogon will sell also.

I heard it was called the Radeon XT or something and was designed got the OEM's like DELL etc.
