This is so great. I haven't seen a thread dedicated to this here on nVnews so sorry if I missed it and this is double post.

Episode 1: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31944.html

Episode 2: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/32413.html (just came out - I laughed SO hard at the first game featured in Episode 2 :rofl )

It's not in HD unfortunately but worth the watch IMO :)

They better put the space combat sims in there or I'm going to be sad. :(

So far they're great. I love the GT retrospectives.

Have you seen the very end of Episode 3 yet? There's your answer ;)

Nope it must have just come out! Watching now...

Even if the folks at GT are console fanboys, they make good retrospectives. I enjoyed that Star Wars one.

LOL I had totally forgotten about that horrible Episode 1 overhead action game. It was one of the worst Star Wars games I've ever played (and the reason I avoided all prequel-trilogy games).

Wow, these videos are awesome.

That episode 2 video really brought back memories! I put an absurd amount of time into Super Star Wars, Super Empire Strikes Back and Super Return of the Jedi when I was a kid. I actually beat them all. I have no idea how I actually forced myself to beat the first one since it had no passwords and limited lives. It was good to see a lot of the levels again because I can't stand playing any of those games for more than a couple minutes now... there's no way I'd be able to play through all the way through them. :p

That arcade game from 1998 looked awesome though. It looked like a mix of full motion video and layered sprites. Very impressive effect.

EDIT: Here's the lightsaber battle:

It actually looks 3d to me. I guess its been a long time since I've seen what late 90s arcade games were capable of.

Yeah when the Star Wars Trilogy arcade game came out it was really awesome. I used to play it a lot back then. :D

Bump! Updated for the new Dark Forces one. This is one of my favorite series in video games. :D

It's funny, watching this retrospective I have come to realize that my enthusiasm for Star Wars originates from the video games and not the movies themselves.
