According to our sources, GT200’s final product name and launch day have been set. Two NVIDIA GeForce card will use the core, they are 9900GX2 and 9900GTX.
It is similar to today’s NV tactic: 9900GX2 just like todays 9800GX2, it is a two GPU product, and 9900GTX is a conventional single GPU product. Source mentions that both cards will be announce in July. In previous rumors, words have it that NV will improve G9X core by rolling out GT200. But detailed information still unknown.
Those are the cards I'm waiting for

These are not the cards your looking for. Move along. Move along.
Hmmm. It seems multi GPU cards are gonna be a regular thing now from nVidia and ATI. Hopefully this will mean better support, too.
Is this actually true or is the summer release gonna be another G92 refresh. I've read the G100 was gonna be a late Q3 release.
EDIT: I've just read the OP propperly. It is a refresh :o

Wouldnt it be a bit soon after the launch of the 9800 series ?
I'd be pretty pissed off if i had bought 1 (or 2) of these, while barely 2 months later the real high end cards are released, no ?

If there is a GX2 version that's would point outt this isn't the next generation flagship were're waiting for as the powerrequirerements would be way to high.

I'm still not sure about that... it says the GT200 is new tech, but it also says it is in the same series as the G92's.
Need clarification on this. I expect a swift reply.

Here's a different news about the new cards: http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=256622
I hope these release dates are true!

Yeah the release date is highly suspect imo
Plus the cards are just another die shrink I believe ?
It would totally tick off everyone who just purchased the new line up, to have a new line come out so soon.
But who knows anymore what Nvidia is thinking, it would not surprise me if they did release new cards so soon.
But then I get to get 2 new cards, again ! HAHAHA

shouldn't this be in the rumors sector? :p
Anyhow, it should look like a refresh for series 9 not a new tech since the naming is still geforce 9xxx but i hope i am wrong :)

No it is not some April Fool jokes. VR-Zone has learned that there will be two high end parts from Nvidia to replace the current GeForce 9800 GX2 and 9800 GTX in Q3. These two parts are GeForce 9900 GTX and GeForce 9900 GT based on the new GT200 architecture. GeForce 9800 GX2 and GTX will have a short lifespan since they will be replaced in a couple of months time. Nvidia has positioned GeForce 9900 GTX to replace 9800 GX2 and this gave a clue that a single GT200 card will actually outperform a dual G92 card. Likewise for GeForce 9900 GT, outperforming and replacing 9800 GTX. CJ revealed to us that Nvidia will have a hard time fitting GT200 onto the PCB since the GPU is gonna be large and very power hungry so we can probably assume it is still 65nm based. The PCB for GT200 will be P651.
Conflicting info there.

Yeah sorry I should have put this in there. I assume it can be moved if needed ?

Sweet! Sounds like a plan for sure. The GT200 sounds more like what I've been waiting for all this time. I will have to see the final specs to decide on making a purchase.
It better offer something huge compared to a 9800GX2/9800 GTX

Not if they are talking about fiscal quarters and not calendar. That date could be Q3/Q4 FY08-ish.

I will wait for the 9900 series

Or wait for the 9900's and buy the 9800's when the price plummets. :)

Good time to upgrade my Geforce 8800GTX to Geforce 9900GTX when the price is right. :)

I hope that this is the real next gen chip, cause i want to buy a 1920x1200 new screen at the same time :)
It might just be that they've done it backwards this time, usually the high end cards come first then the mid range or entry level follow shortly after, maybe the 9900 cards will be the actual high end products for the 9000 series, it's possible.
The VR-Zone article didn't exactly say we can expect a 9900GX2. It implies the 9900GTX will replace it. So, will there be a 9900GX2? Hmm.....

I don't think so, maybe later but not at release. I guess the new chips will be very power hungry and hot running... could be too much for a GX2.
Hmm first i need to see the final "confirmed" specs ..

Starting to look that way, if these really are good performers then I think there will be allot of annoyed 9800GX2 users in a few months time. :)

nVidia is an expert company at that.
