This card could be of interest if vendors put out a 1GB version else it looks like a person would be better off getting the 8800GTX which can be had for pretty much the same price.

Are you really going to pay $100 or more extra for the same card with a bit better ram? Let them fool who they can I'm buyin an 8800gts 512 and will wait until they come out with something that's truly new and not rebagged, revamped, new and improved with more pixel power. This looks almost like what microsoft did with vista, nothing really new other than glitz and glam.

8800GTX is $289 on Newegg and that's what i'm getting for my 3rd card to run TRI SLI :)

no one seems to have managed to test out the tweaked Purevideo HD. :(

otherwise I think I might just hurry and get a 8800GTS before they run out, seeing as it's already 25% cheaper. (xxx)

I know a lot of people don't like the style of their reviews but you've got to say something for the detail they put in:

The trouble is your PSU might struggle to cope. Also, TriSLI still isn't as good as I hoped. I would save your money for the true next-gen cards. Then again it's looking like that may still be 6 months off if the 9900GTX is indeed just another refresh :o

It baffles me they went with 9800 instead 8900 for this series.

True. Maybe they should have done what they did with the GTS and just called it the 8800GTX512. The next refresh would be the 8900GTX and the 'propper' upgrade card (G100) would be the 9800GTX.

Very dissapointing, as expected

Probably because then hardly anyone would have bought into it. At least now the marketing people will have a chance.

Another little annoyance is that they're still using a Mini-DIN connection rather than HDMI - am I missing something here?

It really is a joke. Marketing over substance.

I think this card is for people who want to run tri sli. Then again you can use an 8800GTX card....

It will be a good purchase for people building new PC's from the ground up, and people upgrading for older tech...I mean, think of somone that has a 7900...They can get an 8900 GTX for about 1/2 of what an 8800 GTX would have cost them several months ago...I can see alot of happy people in that arena...

For people like me (8800 GTX) and many others here with G92's, then the upgrade doesn't make as much sense (essentially, the same thing MikeC said at the end of his review)...

Those people should just get 8800GT :)
