Ubisoft is delivering a slate of more than 40 action-packed games to Steam, including Assassin’s Creed and the Tom Clancy series. Two fan favorites are now available to customers in Canada and the United States: the acclaimed action shooter, Far Cry, and the debut game in the groundbreaking stealth action series, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. Save 10% on either game when you buy before Tuesday, April 8th.

Starting today, the PC version of Assassin's Creed is available for pre-purchase. Be one of the first to play the highly-awaited PC adaptation of the console hit—complete with four bonus missions unique to the PC release—when it releases on April 9th.

Over the coming weeks, Ubisoft will bring many of its award-winning brands to Steam, including games from the Tom Clancy series, the Heroes of Might & Magic series, the IL-2 Sturmovik collection, and many more. The Ubisoft line-up on Steam will be the largest library of titles available from any single publisher or developer.

Wow... cool stuff, didn't think they would go Steam, but they have. Is EA next?

I wonder if Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will also be on Steam... I wonder if my lowly DSL connection can handle getting both Assassin's and that game off Steam.

Edit: Why the hell is Splinter Cell $20? I saw it at Wal-Mart bundled with its sequel for $10... Anyway, I have it, so I care little, but that's kinda weird.

Probably not. They have their own EA Store (http://eastore.ea.com/). Hard to see them propelling their competitor (in content delivery) But then again, EA is distributing Valve games, so maybe? :)

That's the usual deal with Steam releases. In few days, it should be available in other countries too.

Well I was sort of joking, but at the same time how many publishers are left who are not on Steam? EA, Microsoft Games and Bethesda are all I can think of right now... and I would not be surprised to see Fallout 3 be the Steam premier for Bethesda.

I think if everyone else is making money hand over fist on Steam EA will eventually relent and go with the flow... the real holdout will probably be MS Games, since they have a "competing" system with Games for Windows Live (hahahaha).

If you edit the URL and put US instead of FI or whatever your country is, you can access the site.

you can't buy it though because it checks your CC or whatever and probably your IP and what server you connect to on steam.

Yeah but doesn't it check your Credit card? I'd imagine it would say you can't purchase this game from your region based on your purchasing info.

Yeah, the address has to be correct or the card won't process as well. The only for-sure way to buy a game on the US Steam and have it work in another country is the gift option. If you have a friend or relative in NA with a paypal account maybe you guys can work something out.

Or maybe Ubi will go global before AC comes out?

I pay all my Steam games with Paypal, not with credit card. Anyway I really hope they sell their games to Europe (Ubisoft is a French company), but I'm afraid if they didn't do it from the first day, they won't do it soon. Assassin's Creed preload is a great opportunity to start hooking people.

Are you guys sure Steam Gift will work?. It could be worth a try
