Hey guys! I bought a 7100 GS and installed it today. At first when it loged in it found the card but then a black screen appeared and nothing happened. So I rebooted and went into safe mode and it turns out vista defaulted the drivers to a year old one. So I upgraded the 7100gs driver to latest (same as 9800gx2) and rebooted.
This time the card was seen.

After I turned on SLI I was ask to reboot. Following the reboot SLI completely disappeared from the nvidia control panel. However I'm guessing this means it automatically sets the card to auto sli (that was default). Also rivatuner confirms that both cards are working (it shows temps for all 3)

Following this I enabled my 2nd monitor and voila! It appeared. To make sure sli was working properly I ran 3dmark06, and the first test I got the 110 fps I've always had while running in sli (non sli test run could not brake 98 fps) so I know it works. It cost me 30 bucks but now I can have sli on my main monitor and have a support monitor!

Should have bought a 8400GS, less power consumption due to smaller 80nm process and 8400GS can decode H.264 on GPU fully. Can get the 8400GS for around $35 from what I see on Newegg and other sites.

Yea but honestly it makes no difference. I ran a 1080p on the monitor with the 7100gs and it ran it flawlessly (in part due to my cpu). There was no difference vs my main screen. Also it has no heatsink so no extra noise (and idles at only 42c, which it will always do since I won't play anything on the 2nd screen).
