I have a Geforce 4 mx 420 graphics card and it doesn't recognize it and i can't select it from the list of cards. What should i do? any help is appreciated, Thanks
edit /etc/x11/XF86config-4;
add the "modes as you please
to change from mode ; Ctrl+ Alt+ "+ or -"
example
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "NVIDIA GeForce 3 (generic)"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 16
Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubsection

Red Hat 7.2 didn't include support for the Geforce4 MX in X yet. This doesn't mean you can't use your Geforce4 MX. As temp solution I would edit the file "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4". That file contains a lot of so called "sections" one of those is called "Device" change the video driver in it from "vga" to "vesa". Or try to select the driver "vesa" in Xconfigurator.
Later you install nvidia's own linux drivers. Those drivers are much more advanced those bring you things like 3D support, Xv (for movies) and more.
