I have decided to bring the RAM in my gaming rig up to 4GB of RAM. Since Vista x86 will only detect 2.75GB of that 4GB, I am going to load Vista x64. How are the drivers for 64-bit? I know their releases (beta that is) are a bit less frequent, but other than that, thoughts?

Thanks!

I just went exclusively to Vista x64 a few days ago. The 174.74's seem to be the best all around so far. I was using the 169.25's just to feel official but I ran into some problems with Assassins Creed. The 169.25's are pretty old as drivers go and I'm pretty dumb for keeping them for so long.

I couldn't be happier with 64bit and 174.74 drivers

That was a necessity with XP x64 when it was new, not so much with Vista x64. You'd really need to have some pretty old stuff to have to worry about it.

64-bit loaded. No complaints as of yet. Only played Crysis so far. 1680x1050 2xAA and averaging around 35-40FPS.:D

For me, 169.25 & 174.74 caused extreme audio/video stutter in every app. I think its a conflict with Intel raid, 4gb RAM, x64, and Nvidia - as 163.xx gives no problem. Going to try another 174.xx to see how it goes.

Try running the video viewer process with an affinity for only a single CPU.

Well, I didn't see your comment before trying 174.85 and they seem to work fine... So 174.85 beta works great here, no stutter like I had on 174.74.

I have been noticing the huge differences with 4GB of RAM. It is definitely the sweet spot on Vista. It would take about 45 seconds to load a level in Crysis before with 2GB of RAM. With 4GB, it takes about 10.:D

My wireless adapter i bought post vista has 32bit drivers, but they have yet to release 64bit ones :headexplode:

Also Daemon Tools can not run a virtual IDE drive under 64bit (yet)
