Bernard Hopkins takes on Joe Calzaghe this weekend. Saturday 19th April. I think it will be a great fight, reminds me of the Hatton Mayweather bout but less of a mismatch. I'd have to say Hopkins by split decision. While Calzaghe's workrate has stunned fighters in the past I dont think he has fought as astute a defensive boxer as Hopkins.
That said I haven't been impressed with Hopkins recent showings and Calzaghe looked fantastic against Kessler, but of course some might ask who Kessler is. Any other fight fans going to be tuned in for this? Nothing special on the undercard but David Lopez and Marco Rubia will square off for the WBC latino title.

oooo I love boxing, My pick is going to be Bernard hopkins also, but going to be good fight could go either way.
I'd love to see this fight. I haven't been keeping up with Calzaghe since I saw him fight the American. It was a brilliant fight! And I wish at this moment I could watch it all over again.
I look forward to see this thread stay active..
cheers!

You mean the Jeff Lacy fight? Yeah, he stunned a lot of naysayers with that win, although a few still maintain that Lacy was on his way to retirement before the bout. What is great about Hopkins v Calzaghe is that both these guys aren't prepared to lose. Hopkins swears he would never lose to a 'white man'. Calzaghe is out to prove that his 20 year undefeated streak isn't a result of Enzo's coddling. It is going to be a fantastic fight thats for sure.

Close fight, not much action. It was Hopkins trying to tie up Calzaghe from the 5th round onwards and a flash knockdown in the first which was quite embarrasing for Calzaghe. No doubt the decision was correct as state of Nevada judges have always given the rounds to the agrressor.
