Sup everyone ?
So it happened that I am stuck with my girlfriends old PC for teh next 2 months. Playing any modern game is out of teh question. So I started digging into older games that I used to play back in the good old days. I want to share my suggestions as to what are [in my opinion] best games ever produced.

1. X-COM: UFO series. This is surely teh best game that has seen the daylight so far. It was so ahead of its times. Modern game developers are not even coming close to it. It took me a good week to find a version that will run on a 300 MHZ p2. After that struggle i cant say I regret it. I am glued to teh pc for teh bigger part of teh day........
2. Syndicate....... when Bullfrog was a GOD for me....
3. Populous - I was GOD !!! ...also Bullfrog
4. North & South - such an infantile game but when AT PCs were kings nothing could beat a 1vs1 game with your best friend.
5. QUAKE - i am not talking about 2 or 3. The first part was such a groundbreaking product....

Sorry for all the nostalgic atmosphere i have created......

I only wish modern games could have their own SOULS and not only good graphics and insane hardware requirements.

There is one game that I have been playing for over 2 years religiously - Counter-Strike. It is old. It kixx ass. It is addictive.

Heheh I only hope I could hear from some of you about games that are worth playing and that will run supersmooth on a 300Mhz machine that I now took over from my gf.

Hope to hear from u all

Star Flight, Star Flight II, and Star Control II are the best space games ever made, IMHO. Particularly the former.

Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret

Those games really need sequals.

Another awesome game: Realms of the Haunting. It looks like Duke 3d (very good considering it's software mode only and uses lots of sprites)but its a really really long adventure\shooter with videos, 4 CDs, puzzle solving, awesome story, great sound....

If you havent played Realms of the Haunting, you owe it to youself to get it. Its from 1997, but it has worked perfectly on every PC ive tried it on (havent tried it on XP yet).

Other good oldies:
Bureau 13 (from 1993.. 3rd person adventure.. great game)
Carmageddon 1 and 2
Quake 1 and 2
Daggerfall
Command & Conquer and Red Alert

XCOM was an amazing game. Terror from the Deep wasn't bad, either. Both are games worth playing through.

My favorite game of all times, System Shock, should be able to run on any older system. Awesome game.
