I was checking out the "uninstall programs" in CCleaner and I noticed an entry called "Microsoft Application Error Reporting". Weird thing is that it isn't listed at all in the regular add/remove programs list. CCleaner won't let me uninstall it or delete the entry. Has anyone seen this before?

btw, I'm running Vista Home Premium x64

Start --> Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> Administrative Tools --> Services --> you can disable it there

I would assume that it's the program that reports errors to microsoft when an application crashes.....like it asks you if you want to send the info to microsoft....why do you want to uninstall it? If you really don't want it, do as jcroxman said above, disable the service.

Thanks for the replies. I don't really want to uninstall it, I just thought it was odd that it shows up in the CCleaner list but not in the Vista list. Just wondering if its like that on everyone's system or if i screwed something up in the registry.

There's dozens of services that aren't listed in the Vista add/remove programs list. Most of them you can't uninstall because windows needs them to operate, but there are a bunch that are non essential. Like the error reporting tool. Is that the only one that shows up in CCleaner?

Yep, the Error Reporting is the only one that shows up in CCleaner but not in the Vista add/remove programs list.
