After testing 3Dmark06 and Crysis, these seem to be about the same as 174.85 on the GX2. Not really a surprise considering there is only a .03 difference in their version numbers.
if its 178.88 doesn't it constitute a 4.03 difference in version numbers? lol

It's really 174.88, at least that's what the download links point to.

did you mod the original inf? or use an older info from other driver? do you know if HDCP works when playing BD or HD-DVD content?

I modded the original INF. I put it the tweaks from the laptopvideo2go 174.74 INF but left the other stuff as it was. The INFs should work on laptops too. Some of the DLL names these drivers use are different from the 174.74s.

There is a new popup when installing, informing you "it might take up to 20 minutes to install this driver". Took 30 seconds as usual though..

Could someone correct the title?
This driver is excellent for me! No more stuttering or lagging in BioShock. This driver is as smooth as 169.44 for me.

I believe you start the setup as usual and it extracts the files to a location. Then you go and copy your modded inf into the extracted folder overwriting the one that's there. Then run the setup in that folder. Should work....

replace the original file
Well i'll give these ago sometime tomorrow & see how the fair
174.74 seemed to fix the Nvlddmkm stopped responding error in FSX for me (it didnt happen within the hour i played like it does in pretty much all other 169 & 174 drivers) but they give rendering errors in DX10 mode on water shaders and blurry ground textures...im hopping 174.88 might fix these problems but i dout it....
Infact im pretty ****ing sick of Nv's ****ty hit and miss drivers,WHQL are months apart, not that that matters as there WHQL are as ****ty as the betas,IMO there a close 2nd to creative for ****ty support

Add/Remove programs. Uninstall NVIDIA Drivers. Reboot. Install these drivers with the setup.exe after you've replaced the inf file with the modded one.
