Hey, I'm trying to get the DTS Connect to work on my rig... yet I can't seem to. Has anybody here successfully gotten DTS Connect to work with Vista x64?

Is the answer blatantly obvious or does nobody know? :o :p

Hmm I can't try DTS connect as my mini-receiver can only decode dolby digital, but if it's anything like DDL, then just choose analog output in the program or game(5.1 channels) and choose DTS connect in the control panel of your sound card?

Edit: It seems like the whole DTS connect option is missing from the control panel at least for me, so it seems like it isn't yet fully working under vista. But shouldn't DTS interactive do up to 5.1 channels?

Still waiting for a Sound Card Manufacturer to release a sound card that does "True" DTS/Digital on Vista. I mean, the Xfi and Audigy 2 can do it, just creative doesn't want to do that, so they can sell more Xfi 2's when they're released.

So, in short... I cannot try DTS Connect with Vista x64? This seems to be the drift I'm getting here...

Don't ASUS have Vista drivers/apps for DTS Connect in Vista, or Vista 64? Might just have to wait. ::(:

Absolutely nothing. I've installed the drivers directly from ASUS' website, I've installed the drivers directly from Anolog Devices website... no go. They both offer the same exact thing. There's no special control panel or anything where I could enable DTS Connect. Oh well... might not be available yet. :(

Have you written to ASUS? Perhaps they have a beta they are willing to let you use. Auzentech did with the Prelude betas.

I actually got DDL to work on my X-Fi with the latest Youp Pax driver package. Games don't play in stereo anymore and the channels produce accurate directional results. Just plain awesome. And this is out of Coax. Stereo Mp3s are decoded to all 6 channels as well.

Latest "Youp Pax" driver? I have no idea what you're referring to. Is that specifically for Creative sound cards, or will it work with any sound card that supports DTS Connect?

Youp PAX is a modded Creative driver maker. They do god stuff. What soundcard do you have? Something from Auzentech?

No. I'm using on-board. It's a SoundMAX...

There are modified drivers for the soundmax on the net that support DTS connect for Vista; saw them a couple of days ago when I tried finding drivers for my x-plosion card. Gonna try finding 'em again -> google!

Edit: try these: http://www.hanson-logistics.com/Jez/SoundMAX_v6.10.1.6260.rar

EDIT2: Redeemed do you have the DTS Interactive option in your setup menu? I'm a bit lost with all of these sound formats myself and just found out that dts connect consists of two elements - dts interactive and dts neo:pc.

DTS:Neo I believe is a channel upmixer. Can take a stereo file and make it play out of all the speakers like a multichannel file. I think lol. :headexplode: :D

Nothing even remotely related to anything DTS shows up at all. There isn't even a SoundMAX control panel. Just the default audio panel that comes with Vista. And there is a "Virtual Surround" option... but it does not enable DTS Connect.

Post how to do it, with the drivers links please.

I'm using XP x64 and an X-Fi Extreme Music just to let you all know. The drivers are Vista compatible.

Here is the link for the Modded X-Fi Drivers.

http://www.youp-pax.org/viewthread.php?tid=571&extra=page%3D1

WARNING! DRIVERS ARE XP ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically, just uninstall what you currently have installed.

After you've done that, run the YouP Pax modded X-Fi driver installation. MAKE SURE AND INSTALL THE DRIVER THAT COMES WITH THE PACKAGE. Via the check boxes during a custom install.

After you've done all that, open the Audio Console in control panel. If you have x64 the Audio Console will be under View X86 Control Panel Icons in the Windows Control panel.

In the Audio Console, under the SPDIF I/O Tab, set the Digital Output to 96hz.

After that, just setup your configuration whichever way you like under the Console launcher under whichever mode you use.

Works like a charm for me.

Sounds as if there's a level of risk involved... and considering I just got this rig running right and stable, with all 4GBs of RAM- I'm skeptical about this "solution"...

But I just might give it a go...

No risk at all, just be running Windows XP, because that's what os the drivers were created and tested on lol

Oh and these are X-Fi drivers, just to make sure. You did say you were using onboard sound ?

LOL BronzeGod, that's just the passthrough, nothing to do with DDL. If you want real DDL live, please get Daniel_K's driver. It's now up at Creative's forums again.

EDIT: The DDL stuff has it's own tab in Audio Console IIRC.

It has the Daniel_K DDL beta 1 file integrated. My mp3sused to only play in stereo with original Creative drivers through the Coax. Now they play through all of the channels perfectly.

Also, my games now work full 5.1 instead of stereo. And with proper channel precision too.

MAYBE DDL is turned on all the time. I know the Prelude has a tab to configure the DDL settings.

I'll investigate this in XP... at home I thinks. Apologies to BronzeGod if I was too quick to LOL. Still those SPDIF I/O setting appear on all X-Fi drivers. It affects the passthrough, it itself does not enable DDL.

Yea, the Auzentech has a pretty DDL tab. Unfortunately, creative doesn't make that for their cards.

DDL is on all the time because my Z-5500 control pod tells me when it's getting a digital signal.

Now with the original drivers, lets say I would play an mp3. When no sound is playing, the Z-5500 Control pod would say "No digital signal". When I would play the mp3, it would then change the display to show the Dolby enhancement and what source the digital signal is coming from. The mp3 would play in stereo. Even 5.1 files would play in stereo.

Now with these drivers, the Control pod is always active with a digital signal, and all files are decoded in 5.1 with the proper Dolby enhancement.

There is no more "No digital signal" screen anymore. And Coax works as it should :D. With crystal clear sound with all the channels.

Looks like it's DDL enabled, but always enabled.

Just wish it was available for Vista. ::(:

I am using on-board sound, it is a SoundMAX chip by Anolog Devices. It is not remotely related to any Creative card to the best of my knowledge. And no, I'm not running Windows XP... I'm running Vista x64.

So I'd be using a driver that has been modified by some uber-nerd thus not supported by any manufacture, isn't even intended for my soundcard, nor my OS... and you're thinking there's no level of risk involved?

Thank you buddy, but the longer I think about the more this seems like it'd end up in a BSOD nightmare...
