I swear, Steam sure does keep my wallet on it's toes! I just started a job last month and I just so happened to have found the original UT ('99) out on the local network ( :D ) along with Quake 3 Arena. We picked a day to stay after work just to play the game and it was a blast! I haven't played Unreal Tournament in a few years.

Well, I got home and thought "Hey, doesn't Steam have every single UT game?". I looked and found the motherload. I bought UT2k4 for $15 and have been having such a great time playing it. I think if it weren't for Steam, I wouldn't have went out to a local store to buy UT2k4.

So here's to Steam, the greatest thing that has ever happened to PC gaming.

EDIT: Dang. Guess I should've just ordered this:

No, actually, that "anthology" version of UT99 doesn't seem to work with mods, etc. IIRC.

Steam has a "mega" pack, with UT3, UT2k4 (UT2k3 never happened :p), UT99, Unreal I and II, etc. :)

Oh wow, I didn't realize that. Well, if it weren't for GTA4 coming out soon, I would've just got that instead.

I'd like to get UT3 but I've heard that it sucks so bad. I didn't really enjoy the demo like I enjoy 2K4 so . . . maybe when it hits $20 I'll get it.

:D

I've seen some kick-arse screenies but the demo wasn't all that great compared to UT2004.

I don't think UT3 is bad at all, but since the idea it is is so common, the game has been all but abandoned.

UT3 was a good game. But from what we're used to, it was mediocre compared to UT99 and UT2k4. Hell, i remember having more fun in UT2k3.

Wow, I was about to buy UT3 for about $25... Is it really that bad? As in Crysis MP bad? *Crickets chirping* in empty servers?

People do play online, but it's nowhere in the league of ut2k4

Definitely stick to 2k4... I played the demo of UT3 hated it... but figured it was just a bad demo... bought the game and played it for an hour... haven't played it since.

ut3 usually has about 100 to 500 people online at any given time(about 95% of which are from europe, so its even worse if your american. unless you enjoy playing at 200 ping on european servers.) the game is dead because it isnt good. it feels nothing like a pc shooter, and everything like a console shooter designed for a gamepad. it also has probably the worst textures of any relevant pc game of the last 5 years. youd be forgiven for thinking u got some vaseline in your eyes when looking at ut3.

Yea it's silly that they won't acknoledge 2k3 even thought I had far more fun playing that one than any of the others. I'd bet UT3 will be swept away into the shadows as well since it didn't sell enough copies.

Well, I cracked and bought UT3 at Gamestop when I went to pre-order GTA4. It was only $30 so not bad.

Wow, UT3 is actually . . . pretty good. It's nothing like UT2K4, that's for sure. But it does have some great graphics, awesome looking weapons and the maps re-done in the UT3 engine is really sahweet!
