eVGA 7800 GS CO AGP - Review LINK (http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/evga_e-geforce_7800_gs_co_superclock_review/default.asp)
Fresh Vista install
Relaxed RAM timings
Stock AGP voltage
174.85 Vista drivers

... 3dmark '06 runs all the way through but damn is it slow, and I get a sh1te score of 1300 or so, 6600GT territory, wtf!? I have vsync off and made sure the NV drivers are set to single display performance mode... grr!!

... 3dmark 03 runs (and runs fine... appears to function perfectly, definitely besting old 6800 numbers) up to Mother Nature, and then freezes my PC before Mother Nature can even load up... grr!!

I'd imagine that the latest nv drivers are optimized for PCI-e, and suppose that this is even the case for the drivers you get when you select the 7 series cards... is this the case?

I'm installing UT3 right now and will see what kind of real world performance I get with this driver set...

Maybe 174.85 just hates the 7800 GS?

FWIW I'm using a Sanyo 26" HDTV with a custom desktop resolution... 10x7 and 12x10 show up on it fine, though I lose just a bit of the outer borders (I will run custom resolutions in my games with help from the Widescreen Gaming Forum).

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Interesting. Well, I don't really think there is a specific coding used in PCI-E versus AGP, in drivers at least.

I almost wonder if AGP is supported in Vista; it has to be, it isn't THAT old. You've removed old remnants, right? Tried 169.25? I know it is old, but (for whatever reason) I've had good luck with it using all my programs. Might be a placebo due to the "WHQL" certification, though, lol.
